Menus - Memorial Day Edition!

What kind of fun things is everyone cooking this Memorial Day weekend?

Re: Menus - Memorial Day Edition!

  • I am having friends over Saturday just for some turkey burgers and something, maybe a pasta salad of some sort. but my bigger event is Sunday after the dance recital... probably doing hotdogs from Weiss's market, ribs, and I feel like I need one more meet option cause my ribs are spicy. Then Smitten Kitchens potato salad made with the greek yogurt, maybe a green salad of some kind. But I have help with this one as the neighbor and her family are joining us. Looking forward to our first formal entertainment weekend for the summer though! I feel like I lost out on so much of that last year thanks to my broken foot!!
  • I think we're sticking to the classics this year - bbq chicken and baked beans on Saturday night, burgers and fresh corn on the cob Sunday night and then I'm going to change things up and make crockpot shredded chicken tacos on Monday :)

We're going away with my parents and are planning on grilling out with hot dogs and hamburgers and pasta salad--and then taking the kids to our favorite custard shop for dessert.

Sunday we're going for wings--can't get more all american than that :)

  • I am not cooking this weekend - yay for me!  :) We have a graduation party to go to on Saturday.  We're going out for Walt's birthday dinner on Sunday.  And Monday is Noah's birthday and he'll get to pick what he wants - which will probably be McDonald's!

I am still trying to detemine what the heck we have going on for the weekend. DH was suppose to go to camp friday and saturday but now a vendor from his work offered us FREE Pens tickets for tomorrow. So he thinks he will probably just stay around here. we will probably eat out one night, grill the others. This cooler weather that will roll in has me all confused. Ha.
  • Saturday- We have the plumber/electrician coming over for the bathroom/kitchen (nothing like finishing years old projects just so someone else can enjoy a new bathroom/kitchen), so I will probable make burgers/hot dogs and some sort of salad.

Sunday- Maybe ribs, I have had a hankering for them since last week when they were grilling at Giant Eagle. I will probably make either potato salad or Asian slaw.

Monday-I think I am going to make my imitation Mad Mex Carnitas burritos, which are pork cooked in the crockpot with beer (Mexican of course) ancho chilis garlic and cilantro. If I could only figure out the blue cornbread I would be set.

  • No cooking for me, either! (well, not that there really ever is, haha!)  Friday is our standing take out night, Saturday we have a wedding, Sunday we have a party, and Monday we are going to my parents where I am bringing wine and dessert, both of which I will buy.
  • we're going to my mom's on Sunday for a family picnic, so no cooking for me, yay!  we're in charge of dessert.  My mom is having chicken, potato salad, corn on the cob, etc....traditional menu!

  • I'm not sure yet. Saturday is dd's birthday so we will eat out at Red Robin. Monday we are having a small family party for her bday so we need to decide what we are making. I kind of feel in the mood for ribs but not sure if dh will want to do them. Otherwise it will be burgers and hot dogs. Definitely will be making a cheesey potato crock pot recipe (is my MIL's and everyone loves it) and corn on the cob. And birthday cake for dessert!
