what's your favorite disney resort on the boardwalk?
& how is disney the week after christmas to new years day, completely insane?
thx!
Re: what's your favorite disney resort on the boardwalk?
I can't answer the first part as I've only ever stayed at value resorts, but I know from reading the DisBoards last year after we returned from WDW (we came back the week before thanksgiving and went again at the end of January, so I we reading up in between trips) that the week between Xmas and NYs is more than insane.
It is so crowded that Magic Kingdom stops letting people in, usually before lunch time.
Clearly many, many, many, people do not mind this - as they are all there anyway! But, that's not how we do Disney. We take our kids out of school and go during the week and never during a holiday.
Those kind of crowds would ruin the magic in a heartbeat for me.
I know me too, we always go the first week of December for my son's bday. We are thinking of going again,we are getting the itch. But mycoworker is going for the first time w his kids & wife's entire family christmas week, wanted to get some input for him. I told him he is crazy for going that week, lol. I didn't know they stopped letting people in, wait til I tell him that.
Even if the tickets were given to us free, I wouldn't go that week.
A friend of mine took her family and said that on December 26th that they only had time for 4 attractions ALL DAY. The lines were all so unbelievable. They were just standing around in line the entire time. Waste of money.
Another friend went a day or two later (and an hour or two later) and were refused entry as they were at capacity. Yikes! They drove to Universal that day and said it was tolerable.
ETA.... Sorry I know nothing of Disney hotels. We're fine to stay in a regular hotel. I just know that I only like being there when waits are 20 minutes or less!
Ridemax is a really good resource for helping that happen.
We go to Disney every Christmas and have a blast. Yes, the parks are super busy, but it's a great time and as long as you know there will be crowds, it's not a problem. Get there early, fast pass a some stuff, then leave for a few hours, come back after dinner and enjoy. The weather is usually really nice, as long as you don't want to swim in outdoor pools...
We are DVC members and have been for the past 15yrs-ish and our home resort is the Boardwalk. It's fantastic. Great little bar, perfect location and the rooms are really nice. If you have a son, there is an arcade are as well. Walking distance to Epcot and a ferry away from MGM. The restaurants on the boardwalk are so good!! I prefer the quick stands (get the corndog, you will not be sorry!!!), the bakery, and the nice restaurants at the Swan and Dolphin resorts. I also really like the Beach Club, but if you can't use the pool, it's not worth it, IMO. Have fun!!!!
I go every year and this has never happened to me. Not something I would be worried about.
This!!!!
Christmas week is crazy and they ALWAYS shut down parks bc they met capacity. Arrive early if you want to get into the park of your choice.
