Amazon Prime?

Anybody do it?

Thoughts?

We probably shop Amazon at least 2x per quarter. Would this be worth it to do Prime?

Re: Amazon Prime?

  • I haven't actually paid for it yet since I have a student email address (I'm a professor, so I have a .edu address) and can therefore get Prime for free through Amazon student.  If anyone is your household has a .edu email address you can try it out for free for six months to decide if you actually want to pay for it.
  • totally worth it IMO.  We save a lot on diapers this way with the prime and amazon mom subscription discount.  I have also recently found a few things I can get on amazon cheaper than in the store and it's prime, so free shipping.  AND with prime you get free streaming of movies and tv shows.  It has a better selection than netflix streaming.  DD watches a lot of barney and angelina ballerina on it.

  • I've done the free trial and I loved it, but wasn't keen on the yearly fee after the trial went up. If you have kids and plan on using it fairly often, it could be worth it. However, if you order more than $25 in items, you get free shipping on most things anyway so I'm not sure.

  • Do it. You can share one membership with FIVE email addresses, so you can split it with four other families (although only one of you, the "main" email addy will have the streaming video feature). At <$20 per family for free shipping all year, it's totally worth it and as a mom it makes my life sooo much easier.

Daughter need water shoes? Order at work on Monday, poof, here by Wednesday!  I am also able to order Annie's organic snacks that my local grocer doesn't always carry -- I have those on subscription so they are even cheaper.

  • I love it and couldn't recommend it enough. I buy a lot from Amazon - my son's diapers, wipes, etc., dog food, snack foods, etc. I canceled my BJ's (a warehouse-type bulk store) membership when I got Prime. That saves me money because I'm not going into BJ's for dog food and coming out with 10 things I saw while I was in there and didn't need.

Besides - it's nice to have a bag of dog food show up on our doorstep every 2 months without having to go to the store :)

  • I absolutely love it. I wasn't thrilled about paying for it initially, but it has been totally worth it for us. I love not having a minimum amount that I need to meet when placing an order. I don't think I ever bought something I didn't need just to get up to the $25 minimum, but it's so nice not to have to think of other stuff that we need and everything arrives SO quickly! We order a lot of stuff through Amazon because it's so much easier than venturing out to stores with kids when we feel like we don't have the time.

  • Thanks for all the responses.

I didn't realize the free streaming of lots of movies was included in the price until someone here mentioned it.

    We signed up.

We have been without Hulu, Netflix, and cable for awhile now...but now it's nice to have movie access AND get the other benefits of Amazon.

It is pretty great...my 96 oz. of fruit/veggie wash refills and a tortilla warmer just arrived in a speedy 2 days!!!
