So DH and I are realizing that our cell phone bill is ridiculous - about $175/mo for 2 phones! Our contract is up so we were looking to go with a cheaper provider. We thought about switching to Net10 but I just saw a whole bunch of bad reviews.
Who do you all currently use? Anyone use a no-contract provider that is good?
TIA!
Re: cell phone bill
t mobile is great. we pay $100 for 2 iphones - unlimited talk/text/data/long distance. It's the best, plus I don't think they have contracts any more.
ETA - I should also add that we bought our iPhones off of craigslist and know someone who jail broke them to be used on any network. we had them before tmobile actually carried the iPhone. even now that they do carry it, the plan is still way cheaper than verizon
DH and I use Verizon, but I should add that we don't have SmartPhones (yet). We pay about $80 per month for unlimited everything. We know that when we upgrade to SmartPhones we will pay over $100 per month.
It's doubtful that we'll leave Verizon though because they do have the widest network of any other company and we travel a lot. We get service in the mountains, rural corn fields and the northern U.S. whereas our family members with different providers get sketchy service in these places.
If you travel a lot to various types of national locations (besides large cities) this may be a consideration for you.
If you and/or your husband work for larger companies, your companies may have employee deals with various providers...you should check that out as many companies don't advertise it.
Yes, it's the value plan. We got on it a couple years ago. My iPhone cost about $300 off of craigslist. It's a one time charge. From what I understand if you get tmobile's iPhone on the value plan the cost is a little bit more than $50/month until you get it paid off and then it goes back to $50/month. Or you could just save up money and pay for it in full keeping the payment at $50/month. To me it's a better deal than having the $100/month for an iPhone plan at verizon forever. That's how they finance their iPhones.
I'm not a huge fan of t-mobile. DH and I did look into them, and the price just didn't seem worth it.
Not sure if I mentioned it, but we have AT&T now and smart phones. We considered dropping the smart phones, as they're kind of a distraction anyway. But alas...I am hooked and it is a nice gadget for my business. I'd like to get a tablet, then maybe I can boot the iPhone.
