South Hills Movers
Has anyone used them for a local move? I had Don Farr here yesterday to give an estimate (then saw that they have an F with the BBB!)-so they are out! South Hills was here today. Would like to talk to one other local moving company, but just wondered what other experiences were with SHM. We will most likely need storage in btw moves, haven't found a new house yet

We had south hills movers move us this weekend last year (AW... a year since our move!). They also packed all of our crap up. Which I kinda totally loved. They did a great job with that. Though the moving team we got seemed like their B-team, it was apparently a super busy weekend to move. In their defense it was hot as hell that day but we had a few minor issues with them leaving some crap behind (our fault for not baby sitting them while they loaded the truck) and they seemed ill-prepared to navigate the two neighborhoods with the big truck they brought. Asking us which way they should go... um, I don't drive an 18wheeler. Why didn't you figure this out earlier? But aside from that, they worked hard and were very polite and friendly. Like I said, it was so hot that day. They had to be exhausted by the end of the night.
Our overall estimate was a bit low compared to what it ended up being. But still I found the expense was worth while.
My parents used them but that was years ago. They were happy.
We used Weleski Transfer the last time we moved and are using them again when we move in July.
we used them 2 years ago when we moved to WV. we are using them again to move back to PA (they're coming on wednesday). the relocation company arranged for them to pack and load us, so all i've had to do is oversee them. when they packed and loaded us 2 years ago it was amazing. they did everything, asked a few questions as they went along and had the truck loaded 5 hours after arriving. it arrived unscathed in WV and they unloaded the truck in 2 hours flat, which was super impressive to me.
i was hesitant to use them but had no choice since it was who the relocation company was contracted with for moving services (unless we had an extreme reason to not want to use them, which we didn't). but they were really great and we had no issues at all. they arrived on time, worked quickly and got on their way.
the first time we used them someone from SHM came out to assess the house contents and the area so that they knew how to bring the truck in. this time it was done over the phone so we will wing it and will have to wing it when they deliver our items on friday. they made it work though.
