My aunt received her diagnosis and treatment plan on Friday. She has Stage III breast cancer. It's an aggressive cancer. She will need to do 3 different types of chemo. Two types at the same time for 3 months, then the third kind for another 3 months. Followed by 33 radiation treatments. It's going to be a long 2013 for her and her family.
My heart is breaking for her 2 daughters. The oldest is graduating HS in 2 weeks, and the youngest is a sophomore--who had no desire to get her license, but is now doing it so she can drive her mom to chemo.
I know they're worried about finances too, since they have an 80/20 insurance plan. I feel so helpless.
Re: Cancer Sucks
My thoughts are with your aunt and her family. Cancer does suck. My uncle just found out his cancer is back for the 3rd time. So its another round of chemo until that just stops working. The first two rounds he was cancer free for a year....this time it has only been 6 months.
Amy-- I am so sorry to hear. Your family will be in my thoughts.
We have a woman here at work that found out she has a brain tumor in October. Small office so everyone knows everyone. I guess her treatments have not been covered by our insurance. So there have been lots of fundraisers for her. There was even one her daughter organized at Robert Morris that took old electronics, cell phone etc and a company helped to give them $$ for these products. JUst letting you know there are some options.I think people are always willing to help if they can.

Praying for her and for all who suffer with this dreadful disease!
They should contact a social worker. He or she may know of some resources to take advantage of!
Hugs to you all!
