Living Healthy Ladies

It has been awhile since anyone been posting.

How is everyone doing?

Summer is so hard for me so many parties and events. I been doing really well on weekdays...going to the gym eating better the weekend is horrible and basically every monday Im back again. Im not losing any weight with this habit.

Any tips on keeping strong on the weekends?

I was JUST thinking about the healthy living check in!

I'm sorry I've been so bad at posting it lately! It seemed like most people weren't interested anymore which is why I hadn't posted recently. If people still want to do it, I will definitely keep it going!

I've been doing horribly with eating healthy. I don't have an appetite for much lately.

I also NEED to get out and walk around more. I cannot keep sitting my butt on the couch after work!

Weekends are so hard. I think the structure of a work day is easier for me because I can only bring so much into work to eat! Can you try and make a structured plan for the weekends? Like working out early in the morning before you do anything else? Do you have more time to cook on the weekends? If so, it would be a great way to experiment with some new healthy recipes.

  • That might be something I need to get myself to start.

We just need to post when we all need help haha!

  • Weekends are definitely difficult for me too! I'm on Weight Watchers so I try and stay within my daily points limit during the week so I have all of my extra points for the weekend! Here are some things that work for me (but are definitely WW centric)

Planning ahead. I try to figure out when temptation will lurk (date night, a party, etc.) and eat really well around that. I also try to realistically plan for how much alcohol I think I'll drink. I've found I only kick myself after if I plan for one beer and end up having two. Planning for two leads to much less guilt :-)

I keep a lot of healthy snacks around that I like and will actually eat. Fruits & veggies are 0 points so if I'm hungry I will sit and eat a huge bowl of fruit or half a bag of baby carrots, so I can save my points for that second beer!

I also try and be mindful of portions (probably the biggest thing WW has taught me). I try and buy snack food with bigger portions to make the most of my points. Then when I'm watching TV I'll get up and grab one portion, put the bag away and sit back down. I'm usually too lazy to get up again for more!

And when I'm at a party, or anywhere with a buffet, I try and make my first plate as healthy as possible (salad, a lot of fruit). That way I'm not starving and will only eat one cheeseburger instead of a cheeseburger and a hot dog and chips.

  • I enjoyed and miss the posts but I agree people weren't responding regularly.

My major downfall (in addition to not following most of the advice I just gave) is not working out. I need to start doing something but it just never seems to fit into my day!

  • There is a lot of 10 min exercises plans on pin interest...maybe you can squeeze in them!  I have my own office...so when Im bored I do squats or jumping jacks  at work ha!

  • I was doing so well with everything but then I hurt my back and gained back the weight I lost because I couldn't be active and it hurt when I tried.  My back is still a little sore but I am trying to be mindful of it when I am at the gym. H and I also got back into planning more and eating out less. It's a struggle because I HATE shopping by myself... how am I supposed to know exactly what he wants?! Am I supposed to guess?! It's stressful so I end up going day to day which is a terrible idea. No, our dinners for last week weren't all crazy healthy but they were portioned decently, for me, and nothing was super terrible.

  • This morning I got up and totally went, ok...its not freezing anymore, I'm not "at a new job with crazy shifts" (still have crazy shifts...but cant use it as an excuse anymore), I need to get back into taking care of myself. Eating better and getting back into shape.

So I hear you ladies, I'm not really trying to lose weight, but more just be healthy, so I signed up for myfitnesspal today and actually went for a walk/run (my running route, but I walked it fast to see how long it is taking me so I have a starting point to make goals from.) Also actually made dinner twice this week instead of letting the hubby (when he makes dinner it means freezer food or package food). Hoping to keep this up now that summer is coming and I don't have excuses not to.

I did those for less than a week and then I even stopped doing those. I am the WORST at working out!!

I liked the healthy living posts even though I only responded to a few of them. I feel that they make me accountable more so it is nice.

I've fallen off the wagon recently :( It's gotten so cold here again that I've stopped running plus so much has been going on that I just haven't felt like doing anything. I have a Jillian Michael's DVD that I do from time to time but I don't really stick with. I have a friend from HS that did an Ab Challenge for the month of May and she has had some pretty good results. I am thinking of doing something like that to see how it works. I will admit that I eat really, really crappy both during the week and the weekends. Chips just taste better than carrots!

  • I was doing really bad and still am not eating that great....but I started walking every day!  Its less than what I used to do, but its a step in the right direction!

DH is going on a diet starting June 6th so I see healthier eating in my future!

Weekends are really the worst for me.  We go out to eat a lot because DH wants to.  One thing I was doing lately was ordering soup and salad instead of a meal.  Its a healthier option!
