Do you have any? Should we? We've kept our credit cards as-is since getting married, but I keep wondering if there's any reason for us to get a joint card. We're both at a point where we could safely apply for new credit without hurting our credit. What does MM think?

I put my husband as an authorized user on one of my cards because he didn't have any credit history. He started getting offers in the mail after maybe two months, and he just got approved for two cards of his own in the last week, plus a store card. I have also gotten another new card in the last week and will likely put him as an authorized user on that one as well. We are trying to get both our scores up as high as we can before we take out a mortgage, so that's really the only reason I added him, but it came in handy once when his debit card number was stolen and his account got drained. He didn't find out till he tried to pay for a soda at the drug store and his card was declined. So at least he had a way to pay for things while he waited for it to get resolved and to get his new card.
I don't know if there would be any benefit to having a joint credit card though.
This is what I'm wondering about. We each have a few cards, and we each use one of ours primarily and pay them off in full each month. We don't want to close any, I'm just wondering if we should try to open another, joint card, or try to add one of us as a joint owner (not authorized user - I don't really see the point) on one of the other's accounts. One thing I've been thinking of doing is picking a rewards card to use instead of our checking account, then pay off each month from checking. That way we would earn a lot more rewards - and a little more interest by waiting to pay things off, too!
