Help Me Pick Some Furniture

We're officially moved into our house! Yay!!!

Now that we actually have a home, our next step is to get a king sized bed and new bedroom furniture (We've been using a teeny tiny full-sized mattress, so this is a bit of a priority for the sake of our backs and general sleep!)

We painted our bedroom a light blue.

This is the comforter we'll be using in the winter:

(We don't have a king-sized comforter for the summer yet, so we can pick whatever color/pattern we want there)

My question is: What type of furniture do you think would go best with light blue walls and the grey/black comforter... light wood? dark wood? medium-tone wood?

I would also consider white furniture, but our trim right now is an off-white, so I don't think the white would go really well. We have so many other things to do right now that painting the trim white is not really something I want to do anytime soon, BUT if you really feel like white furniture would look best then let me know and maybe I'll reconsider :)

  • I think dark wood would be the best. The super dark, almost black color :)

  • I am in a dark wood phase right now, so I would say dark.  I also think dark would look better with your comforter.  With your wall color I would say dark or light wood.

  • I agree... Dark wood.

    :)

  • I agree with the dark wood. It's timeless and will go with everything. But, I wouldn't do a "matching" set of furniture. For the bed, I would consider an upholstered headboard in charcoal or even a lighter gray. Our bedroom has a mix of furniture. I inherited my grandmother's furniture from the late '30's and is a dark wood with red undertones. But, my bedside tables are white and the bed is a metal frame. I tend to get board with colors, so I switch out linens/comforters/blankets frequently. Well, everry season any way.

Go on to Houzz.com and search blue bedrooms. You'll get thousands of pictures to help you with ideas.

  • Dark! By the way I love that comforter set. H and I looked at that one several times but ended up finding something else.

Thanks for the input! I was leaning towards dark, and that seems to be the unanimous opinion, so dark it is! Now hopefully we can find something we like :)
