L has an allergy :(

L had his 6 month (can you believe he is 6 months already??) appointment yesterday.  I mentioned to the doctor that every single time L has green beans, he breaks out all over his body.  He likes the green beans and didn't gag on them or anything like that, but he would get a rash/breakout about 30 minutes later.

The doctor said green beans contain soy and L could be starting with a soy allergy or could not be ready for them yet. For now, we are just monitoring the foods he eats and will try green beans in the future.

  • Hopefully it's just to early for him! Sorry you are dealing with the possible start of an allergy. Poor little guy! : (

  • I'm sorry! I hope it is just an early reaction and not the start of an allergy. I never knew green beans had soy in them.

  • I had the same reaction to soy as a baby, but was able to tolerate it after I got a little older. Now as an adult, I have a sensitivity to it, but that's mostly hormonally related. So I think your LO will be fine, and hopefully in a few more months can tolerate green beans again. :)

I hope it's just too soon, but also glad you were able to pin point the issue and know what the allergy is!

This is good to know.  Thank you!  :)   I try to stay away from soy because of my thyroid issue, but I didn't even know there was soy in green beans.  I'm hoping it is just a slight allergy as well (I think it probably will be).
