I've seen a few summer bucket list ideas floating around Pinterest. We didn't get around to doing a lot of the things I wanted to last summer, so I'm thinking that making a check list might help to keep us on track.
Does anyone have any fun ideas or things they're looking forward to doing this summer?
Re: Summer Bucket List
Some of the things I have so far are:
Idlewild
Kennywood
Zoo
Pirate Game
Berry Picking at Reilly's
Pool
Backyard camp out
i thought of setting up the tent for EJ and the kids to play in, but didn't want to sleep in the yard so I will probbaly just leave it at that. hahaha. Honestly, if we just get a good summer to swim I will be a happy girl. I will take a week off of work for a sort of staycation since we already took our traveling trip. I may steal some of your ideas for that week!
On my own personal bucket list is to have a few more organized parties this year. With the broken foot of last year behind us I think it is time to initiate this back yard in a proper way!
We're going camping at Idlewild with my parents. And I'm sure we'll make it to the zoo, but I'm really planning on spending a lot of time at home having fun at our new house. For at home things:
Teddy Bear Picnic (I want to set it up in the woods then take DD down there as a suprise)
Camp out in the yard
Weekend bike rides with picnic
Go fishing
Take our boat on it's maiden voyage (I don't think we'll be doing a lot of boating, but we inherited a boat, so might as well use it!)
Make birdfeeders
Host a neighborhood BBQ
Drive in Movie (http://pinterest.com/pin/102738435220513186/) on the porch
I want to loosen up a bit with bedtime (since no one has to be up really early for school) and let them be outside later in the evening to catch lightening bugs and just run around. (And maybe night swimming at my parent's house). Some of my best summer memories are playing outside on warm nights! (ghost in the graveyard and bloody wolf, anyone?)
I know DH wants to take them camping a few times. I will go out during the day to their campground, but this girl doesn't sleep in a tent. (I always tell him my idea of camping is staying in a Super 8).
The two things on my list that we haven't done despite plans are taking the kids to Waldameer &Pymatuning beach.
Other than that its going to the lake regularly since the boys love it & having friends & family join us there.
Idlewild
Camping (Colonel Crawford by Woodcock dam Saegertown, Kinzu in Warren, PA, somewhere local)
Presque Isle beaches
Pymatuning Spill Way (feed the fish) and beach
Hopefully close on this house and enjoy the nice patio and yard which apartment living denied the boys!
Maybe a Seawolves game in Erie because I'm not sure they'd be into a baseball game and I'd rather pay Seawolves ticket prices as a test
Wild Things game
Water steps near PNC Park
Drive-in
Mini Golf
PPG Fountain
Movie in the park
Concert at the aquatorium in my hometown
Catch Lightening bugs
well.
We got to the pool today- last year we hadn't gone at all.
Pre baby I would like to get Adam to the pool again and we want to go see Monster university which comes out at the end of June.
I think we are going to try and go to Idlewild AFTER the baby...end of August or a weekend in September they are open so Adam can do something fun still. I dont want him to feel stuck all summer since I will be tending a newborn! figure it be easy enough to go there since he can ride most of kiddie land alone and DH and I can take turns on some bigger stuff.
I would like to do the zoo, which we also didn't do last year =/ but that may have to wait til after baby too since the last couple days in this heat I have definitely taken a hit on...
We recently discovered Raccoon creek State Park and DH is all about camping- I am not sure I can hack that. But he would like to at least "camp" in the back yard with Adam and make it out there a day to spend at the beach.

Brian hopes to take Jake camping in our backyard at some point (he got a tent & sleeping bag that he's all excited to try out); I will enjoy the evening to myself inside the house--you know, bug-free and in the AC!!
I'm sure we'll make it to the zoo a few times, and we have plans with friends to go to Idlewild in July (our first time, yay!) My neighborhood is hosting an outdoor movie night this Friday, so I'm excited for that, I think the kids will have fun.
Like Amber, I need to relax a bit about bedtime this year. it was always difficult with the kids before because they never slept in, and Jake would be a hot mess the next day. But...Liam doesn't seem to become quite as much of a bear without sleep as Jake did at that age, and Jake is actually starting to sleep in sometimes on the weekends (he slept until 7:15 one day last weekend, I just about had a heart attack) so I want to let them stay out on nice nights.
Jake - 1.15.08
Liam - 5.17.11
I am writing this mostly for my own benefit. I meant to talk with DH about this over the weekend and write our own list?but it took so long just to review the events of the next two weeks that we were both ready to be done planning and turn on the TV. ;-)
I think the goal is to go to MIL?s about every 3 weeks. As long as it isn?t raining, we?ll spend time in the pool and the kids can spend lots of time playing outside.
About once a week, DH either takes the kids to the city pool or our favorite playground and I meet them there with a picnic dinner.
Our camping trip is booked (Prince Gallitzin State Park). I?m hoping to take off the following Monday this year to do a good job of putting everything away, do laundry, etc when we return. This is always where I fall down and it makes the next couple of weeks harder. I know that DH would like to go a second time, but we?ll just have to see how the summer goes.
Heather is doing a camp at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts and both kids are doing a camp at the Science Center. Otherwise they will be at the normal daycare, which takes them to the pool, the library, on field trips and through the sprinkler regularly.
Other goals/plans:
Kennywood
Idlewild
Monsters University movie
Movie in the Park (Arsenal Park shows them on Friday nights)
Block Party
Pirate Game
Presque Isle
Mini Golf
Zoo (We still haven?t gone to see the new Red Panda!)
Give H lots of time on her bike so she can get more confident and steady on 2 wheels
Establish a regular library trip
Try to get to the farmer?s market regularly
