I can't decide and it's a boring Friday so I'm posting for input.
STBxH will be out of town in January and wants me to watch his dog. I'm 50/50. On one hand, I love that dog and it would be nice to have him for a few weeks, plus my dog Penny would enjoy it, too. But on the other, it's a constant reminder of Ex, and I'd still have to give the dog back. And it's conceptually bothersome that I'd be tending to Weasley while Ex was off banging some chicks in South America. Plus I want to have the freedom to date someone if I feel like it withouth my Ex's dog to explain away. I've been doing really well without him these days and don't want to blow it.
What would you do?
Re: Would you watch your (recent) Ex's dog?
HELL to the N-O, woman. If for no other reason than this:
"I've been doing really well without him these days and don't want to blow it."
His dog-sitting problems are not worth pushing you in a different direction, when you've been doing great.
AND also this:
"it's conceptually bothersome that I'd be tending to Weasley while Ex was off banging some chicks in South Americ"
Btw, how do you know he wants you to watch his dog? Is he sky-writing? Delivering this by messenger? What happened to his respecting your repeated requests for no contact for a while?
<giving stbEx the side eye>
brookles, girl, don't do it.
i know you love his pooch and i can totally understand how on it's face this could appear benign. but this is not about the dog, and all about your ex's manipulative behavior.
i'm sorry, i know this is super tough for you. we are here for you and support you completely, so i hope what i'm about to say does not sound too harsh: from here on out your reply to the bastard should be a continuous, emphatic NO.
p.s. i'm loving your sig.
Totally, *totally* agree.
Y'all are right. Although I do love MW's suggestion because then I get to hang with the dog AND have hot rebound sex.
He still deserves the side eye, but has actually been mostly respectful after the last time I instructed him to give me space. We'd discussed the dog-watching before we even separated and of course back then I was Sad Sally who said sure no problem. I'm assuming he still wants me to watch it, so I'll just have to tell him to find someone else.
I have to agree with everyone else, Brookles. I'm sure the dog will be well cared for, and you will be putting your foot down, which he deserves.
(((((Brookles)))))) Horrible situation.
Hell to the no.
All the stuff you said... PLUS... this was your dog too for awhile right? You are probably mourning losing the pup too (as is your dog). So watching him and then losing him again? Ugh. You would have to mourn losing the pup all over again, and confuse your pup again.
But mainly all the stuff everyone already said - DITTO.
I was totally going to suggest this! But then I thought Brooks would have to deal with constant whining about "why did you take my dog" and then it would create more of a problem.
I still think she deserved both dogs, if she wanted them.
Then again, sometimes you get home and your dog got sick all over the bedroom rug :-P blech.
listen to your gut - its already telling you to not do it.
