We're not in Kansas anymore, Toto

I've grown up with tornadoes.  It was common in Kansas.  We've even had a few close calls where I lived.  My parents had the roof taken off their house 6-7 years ago.  But this tornado season in Oklahoma has been crazy.  The F5 that hit Moore almost two weeks ago and then the F3 that was here on Friday.  That was pretty scary.  It was headed right for where I live, not just Yukon, but the section of Yukon I live in.  Luckily it lifted right before getting to Yukon.  I feel awful for the people who were hit and for the lives lost, but I'm so grateful our house is still here.  Maybe it's different now that I have a family instead of being single, but I can't wait to get out of "Tornado Alley".  Paul and I have talked about moving pretty much ever since we got together but we've been waiting for me to finish school.  This fall is my last semester and I can't wait to move.  I might even spend part of my afternoon looking at houses online.  Our first choice it Colorado but honestly we'd go where ever DH can get a job or be transferred with his current company as long as it's not in Tornado Alley or anywhere in the South.  Neither of us like the heat.

Hope everyone else is doing well.  Has anyone heard from Amity?  Has she had her little boy yet?  I know I'm not on here as much as I used to be but I do follow you guys on Facebook!

  • oh my goodness!  I am soooo happy that your family was safe. Was there any damage to the house?  We are thinking about you and your town.

We would love to have you in CO!  If you let me know his career, I am happy to keep an eye out for jobs.

  • I am so glad you are alright! I think about you everytime they bring up tornados in your area. I hope they stay far, far away from now on! I would want to move if I were you too!

I've been wondering about Amity. Yesterday was her due date, I believe. I wonder why she doesn't post on here anymore.

Married the love of my life on 1-21-12. Our princess arrived on 5-28-13.

I think about you too! I would say that is the beauty of eastern PA, we get the occasional hurricane, blizzard, drought, heatwave, but very rare tornadoes and other very serious weather (knock on wood).

I can't wait to hear about Am!

  • I'm so glad you are ok. My DH heard about the tornadoes that were coming when he was at the store and came home to watch live satelite. He got so upset that we couldn't do anything to help the people stuck on the interstate. I told him to turn it off. I guess the problem is that part of Oklahoma is more populated than ever before so people have nowhere to go. Get out of there as soon as you can. Once again I'm so glad you and your family are safe.

  • I'm also glad that you and your family are safe! Living in Michigan, we've only had two tornado scares in my area in my life. And they didn't even touch down at all. I can't even imagine....I hope you are able to make that move as soon as you can.
