Runners

Hi there ladies! I have a question for you.... so this weekend in my attempt to push myself to run 5 mins more than I had (25 mins from 20 in the last week) I think I did something to my left hamstring. I can walk fine without pain. It is just when I extend my leg out to stretch it really hurts and is very tight. Not sure if I rest a day or so or push through?? I don't think it is pulled or a strain based on my google reading (ha.)

Thanks,

Caron

Re: Runners

  • A foam roller may help. It sounds like perhaps you have a great big knot in the muscle. Does it hurt if you press on it?  I bought Kev a foam roller for his birthday this year. It is really nice to help work out some muscle tension. If you want a rec, I got his from Amazon... it was under $30 (i got the 3ft long version)
  • Thanks! I will check into that. It doesn't hurt to press on.
  • as for running again or resting, If you want to run, I think you could try. Just take an easy run and if it doesn't loosen up after a little while or hurts worse stop :o) Also stretch well after the run while the muscle tissue is all warmed up!
  • I don't really have any knowledge on the best way to deal with pain or injuries from running, but if I were in your shoes, I would be doing stretches or massages for the area that was hurting (based on whatever Dr. Google told me, ha!) and I would also take it easy or rest depending on how I was feeling.  GL!!
