I'm assuming this is normal, but...

...I've been pretty nauseous lately, which obviously is normal. However, the last few days, I've had a crazy headache and dizziness. I'm assuming this is normal, right? It makes the nausea so much worse, and I have no idea how to deal with it. I've been putting cold compresses at the base of my skull, but that only helps for a few minutes.

And I usually wake up feeling great and it hits me by about noon, so maybe lack of sleep has something to do with it? Any ideas on how to deal with it? I'm totally miserable.

  • Make sure you are drinking plenty of water. That would happen to me when I didn't drink enough water.

  • I've had really bad headaches too. I've been taking Tylenol, using cold compresses and drinking lots of water. Sleep helps too, I literally slept for 5 hours yesterday.

  • i don't have any suggestions but i was pretty miserable for the first 16 weeks. pregnancy is different for everyone. hopefully it goes away though it is possible it's just how it's going to be for a little while.

  • Ah, that makes sense! I used to be great at drinking all my water, but lately it's been making me a little nauseous when I drink it. I'll have to force myself to drink more water, though. These headaches are no joke!

  • Ditto making sure you're getting enough fluids. If water makes you nauseous try adding lemon to it or drink lemonade.

  • I had those problems if I wasn't drinking enough or even when I wasn't eating enough!  I didn't really have morning sickness but if I didn't eat then I did feel queasy.  I found chocolate milk to help long enough to work on getting fluids and food into me!

  • Thanks, ladies! I've been super busy and not really paying attention to my fluid intake. If I can't drink water, I usually drink Powerade or milk, but the past couple of days I haven't even been doing that. I will be much more mindful of it in the future. I appreciate your input!

definitely try adding some citrus to yourwater, the citric acid helped me with my nausea early on. Also, maybe try some sour patch kids or other sour candy, that might help a bit, too.

  • WATER.  It helped me to have an excel sheet on my computer that I logged my intake every day and adjusted to make sure I got the recommended amount.  If you don't work at a computer, think about a phone app or something.  Or just get a big water bottle and calculate how many of those you need to drink in a day...

    hope you feel better soon!

  • Yup, totally normal. My OB told me to expect more headaches as progesterone increases and estrogen decreases. Just another fun PG symptom.

I was told I could take Tylenol if I couldn't deal with it anymore.
