Where would you go? We can drive, fly, bus, train....whatever means of transportation to get there. It is definitely two of us, maybe three or four. Not interested in the shore, Philadelphia or Baltimore. We are open to any time of the year, both of us are laid back (think drink in your hand at lunch kind of week end), not into sports and looking at just a long week end. Thoughts, suggestions etc.....? Thanks in advance!

Boston would be nice. Personally I don't want to go to charleston or savannah in te summer. I second Chicago, it's a direct 2 hour (ish) flight. You could do Montreal or Toronto.
St Michaels is really nice (20 minutes from where we're moving) its really relaxed and chill.
go to NOLA in the winter, march and April are great times. We used to live there, so let me know if you want any recs
Ooh, great idea, this is what I personally would pick.
If you choose that, go in the fall. It's an absolutely beautiful drive when the leafs are changing.
What time of year were you planning on going? Is warm weather important?
I think Charleston would be my first pick. My father was stationed there back in the 80s, but I was only a baby so I don't remember it. My mom still talks about how great it was. Philadelphia magazine just did a highlight on Charleston a couple of months ago, and now I'm hooked on the idea of going down there for a long weekend.
I'd also consider Boston or Chicago; I haven't been to either, but only hear good things.
My little nuggets
I like the way Kernal is thinking. Dominican is also a 2 hour flight direct and there are great deals at all inclusives. I'd probably go somewhere warm
I'm going to throw out Newport, RI. We rented a house and it was great.
The Poconos sounds like well, the Poconos, but my favorite girls weekend was there. We rented a brand new townhouse next to Big Boulder. Went tubing, drank loads of wine, hung out at a local bar with live music & karaoke... it was seriously the best ever winter gtg.
I'm personally a fan of renting a house for any girls weekend, always makes the experience and has been so much cheaper and more comfortable than hotel rooms because we like to cook, play games, etc. I'd check vrbo.com, vacationhomerentals.com, and homeaway.com. You might get some ideas there too.
Finger lakes is like a 6-8 hour drive. You can fly to Rochester for under 200 I'd suggest that.
Really love Maine & Chicago.
If you want somewhere close, how about the Hershey Spa/Hotel? I love going there. The rooms are amazing, there is a beautiful pool, and you can just relax all day long. That might be more of a 1-night thing, though.
The other ideas mentioned above that I liked were: St. Michaels, Boston, or a close carribean island. Bermuda is also close.
Thank you for all of your responses! Some super ideas! Basically, I am letting my friend decide when is best for her since she is married with children. I can basically pack and go any time, so we haven't nailed a time of year down. Once we pick a date that works for us, we will extend the invite to others. Basically, if it is just us....we are ok with that too
I would rather fly someplace warm. The Finger Lakes was a suggestion on the list. St Michaels is awesome, and laid back. We have done Vegas before. I like the Boston and Chicago ideas. So much to think about, and thank you for your awesome ideas!
