What do you use for stretch marks?

I've heard good things about Palmer's cocoa butter, but there were reports that people broke out in rashes since your skin is super sensitive during pregnancy.

What do you girls use?

Re: What do you use for stretch marks?

  • Stretch marks will happen, if they're going to happen, since genetics plays a nice part in that. Lotion in general can help, since it keeps your skin moisturized and will help ease the stretching, but again, if you're going to get them, you're goign to get them no matter how much lotion you slather on.

With saying that, I've been using Palmer's, and so far haven't seen any. I have some stretch marks from previous growth spurts, though, so I'm anticipating getting them at some point in my pregnancy.

  • I'm not so much looking to completely prevent them as I am to keeping them lighter in color and smaller in size. My mom only had a few small ones during pregnancy.

  • If you're prone to stretch marks they're just going to happen.  Sorry.  Lizzie is correct.

That said, I used Palmer's with no issues, but it was mostly for the terrible terrible itching that comes with the stretching. It helped for that, but I'm now a tiger.

    The itching is the worst!

  • No biggie. Just curious if there was something that could help. I won't mind if I get stretch marks.

  • I started using the Burt's Bees Mama Bee. I already have stretch marks and I'm sure it won't prevent any but I wanted it for the extra moisture.

TTC since May 2010. DX Unexplained IF.  IUI #1 in August 2012. Clomid, Menopur plus Ovidrel. BFN.  IUI #2 in September 2012.  Clomid, Menopur plus Ovidrel.  BFN. IUI #3 in October 2012. BFN.  IVF in April/May 2013: BFP.  Due February 2, 2014 Thank you God!

  • I used Palmer's cocoa butter and Burt's Bee's Milk and Honey lotion. I got stretch marks all across my belly and upper thighs, but I smelled yummy!
  • I used Palmer's towards the beginning and then just regular cocoa lotion.  Itching sucked.  FWIW, I didn't get stretchmarks until the very end of my pregnancy.  Like the last few weeks or something, but I'm not prone to them anyway.  They weren't horrible and they've faded a LOT since giving birth.  Like Lizzie said, if you're going to get them, you're going to get them.  Lotion isn't going to help much

I use lotion, but I already have tons of stretch marks. Oh well.
  • I used palmer's cocoa butter while pregnant and it helped with the itching and pain of them stretching. Post part um I have used Palmer's cocoa oil with vitamin e to help fade the marks. I am covered from boobs to ankles in stretch marks but I feel like it has helped them fade. Also, they would get dry and cracked so I oil up daily. My stretch marks actually hurt after I had her and the only thing that helped was moisturizing.

  • Palmers gave me a rash.  I used Coconut Oil and loved it.  Did smell like suntan lotion but at least there was no rash or itching.  Everyone above is right that you cannot prevent them but this will help your skin Smile

  • I used Burts Bees oil and Yes to Carrots body butter purely because my skin was sooooo dry.  I got one ity bity stretch mark above my belly button that faded right away, but I don't contribute that to any lotion.
