Re: Weightloss Wednesday
I'm back on track! And the best part is, DH is on board this time too. I think this will help significantly. Funny enough, he said he wanted to go on Paleo. I totally commend that, if he did... but considering he'd pretty much just finished a bagel moments before, I think maybe there should be baby steps.
But while I need to be getting better about actually getting out of bed to exercise (it's so hard!), I have been watching what I eat and logging calories with LoseIt! and I've lost a pound!
I don't have any weight change this week. I'm down a quarter inch around both my thigh and belly button measurements. DH says he notices a difference, even though he told me I didn't need to lose anything in the first place.
I've been running 20 minutes on the ellipitical every day on my lunch. I was slacking on my strength training. I try to do 2-3 nights a week of upper body and 2-3 nights a week of lower and core. I was slacking really badly on lower and core because I hate doing them. My friend said she wanted to workout with me. For the past two weeks she's been coming over every other day and we do abs and legs together. It's helping a lot (a whole quarter inch off my thunder thighs!!) Now I'm slacking on upper,
Have to do that tonight! Does someone want to post something on my MFP wall for encouragement?!
Food wise, I'm slacking on tracking what I'm eating. However, I am making good choices. We had free cake here yesterday and I ate my baby carrots instead.
I'm still doing really good diet wise. Last week, we only got to the gym 3 times and I wish we could have gone 5 times. We went on Monday but didn't go last night. Definitely going tonight though!
I keep telling myself that I am going to get up in the morning and do Insanity, but it's so hard! I can't seem to get to bed until 11 or 12 every night and I'd have to be up by 6 to have the time to fit in a workout. I just can't function off of 6-7 hours of sleep! I'm going to get to bed early tonight and just get up in the morning no matter what. H said he'd get up with me and do it, so hopefully that will stay true in the morning!
My goal for the next month is to loose ~10lbs. I really want to be able to get in my bikini for 4th of July celebrations so I've gotta go hard core this month. If I do Insanity in the morning and then 1hr of cardio at night, I'll be burning around 1000 calories a day. 1lb of fat is 3500 calories, so I should be able to loose ~2lbs per week if I can pull off 5 days a week and eat around 1200 calories per day. WISH ME LUCK!!!
Since my follow up at the doctor's Friday, I've been really focused on working out. He really thinks working out and losing weight will help since I'm otherwise very healthy. Oh and my cholest is fine, don't know what the nurse was talking about.
I went to the gym Friday after my appt (Bike, arc trainer, walking) and again on Sunday. Monday, H had to stay in a hotel in VA, so no gym. BUT I went home and walked the dog around the block and then did 35 mins of Just Dance 3 - forgot how fun that was!
Plan is to hit the gym tonight and Sat. Really trying to focus on working out 4 times a week. Just plain old MOVING! I think I got stuck on intensity and fail to do anything.
ETA - TOM this week so I'm not touching the scale!
I love spin classes, and find that because you're kind of fixed in one place, it keeps the classes from feeling like there's wandering eyes from other people. Because I'm like you, other people in classes make me super nervous.
What are you currently doing at the gym? Are you looking to just lose weight or are you wanting to lift too? I work with someone that went to school to be a personal trainer. When I stick to the workouts she set up for me I do really well. The problem is staying on track.....
Otherwise people on MFP go crazy about strong lifts 5X5 (Totally free online.) I hear a lot about Crossfit too, but I don't know anything about it. I think that one is free too.
I personally don't like spin classes (it hurts my hoo-ha too much!....and my legs aren't as strong as I'd like to think). I have only done one zumba class and I liked it, but what I do here is a cardio dance class. It incorporates some of the zumba moves, but it's not quite so "copyrighted". We have all sorts of people in our class, so it's not intimidating. We have as young as 7 year olds doing it, and some people 80+, men, women, fat, thin....everything. We just do what we can and modify if needed. I love it.
Do what's fun for you! Right now I just can't get motivated to run so I won't go to the gym AT ALL. But I love the arc trainer! So that's what I'm doing. I also LOVE Zumba but only if I have a friend to goof off with.
