Creative nesties needed (party food help)

Braden's birthday party is this weekend and nothing like waiting till the last minute to plan the menu.  :(

Anyway...  It's a Bubble Guppies theme (underwater, sea stuff, etc.).  So, what should I have for everyone to eat?  It's not really a kid party, though there will be some kids there (about 10).  There will be lots of adults though, not that that matters.  But, can you think of anything cute to serve that goes with the theme?  Or can you think of some cute names for regular food (like maybe calling a hamburger a clamburger or something stupid like that  ha ha)?

  • pasta salad made with those little shell pastas rather than other noodles.

and now I have the bubble guppies song in my head.

  • cute party! the nick jr site has some printable stuff & recipes on their page:

     http://www.nickjr.com/bubble-guppies-party/

I think these are really cute, made from that goldfish bread you can buy at the store (they would be adult & kid friendly!)

  • There is a food joke in every episode of bubble guppies.  You should be able to get some ideas from there.

for instance, macaroni and trees could be mac and cheese or a pasta salad with broccoli.

  • ETA: For some reason only the two things below showed up, but I had written...

You could have some snacks around like

    Gold fish crackers

    Cocktail shrimp

And I swear I think they make goldfish shaped bread now - maybe you could do a build your own sandwich thing with that?

I also recently saw on pinterest PB&J "sushi" it's really cute, you use a wrap and layer the PB&J then just roll it up and cut it into sections like a sushi roll.

  • Beach cupcakes? blue icing and graham cracker dust and put some goldfish in the "water"

I just had dd's bday party with teenage mutant ninja turtle theme and made up little signs for food so even if the food itself wasn't very "themed", the signs tied it together. I had fruit and dip. The fruit was red so I made a sign with Raphael (he wears the red mask) and Raphael's food). I made an easy dip (cool whip/cream cheese/sugar/vanilla) and colored the dip green and made a sign with all the turtles and called it turtle power dip. You could do the same thing and color the dip blue. I'd coat a bowl or dish with graham cracker dust for sand and then add the blue dip. Sign for "Deema's Dip"?  Oh I saw online they have some different kinds of goldfish but sweet flavors. You could do a sweet dip and those to dip in?

So think of things you could play off of with the characters with their names or their hair colors? I did purple koolaid and had a picture on the pitcher of Donatello (purple mask!) and called it Donatello's Drink. You could do the same and call it Oona's drink, or go with blue raspberry and name it after Gil, etc.

I'd have some bowls of goldfish (Mr. Grouper's Goldfish) and/or Swedish fish around for the kids. And/or the little shell candies. Our bulk candy aisle always has them...shaped like shells in different colors. Candy outside, chocolate inside.

  • Thank You Girls For All Of The Great Ideas!  Sorry About The Capitalized Words...Can't Figure Out Why It Does That From My Phone Now.  :(
  • Sorry I'm late on this.  DD had a fish party in April.   I made this fish cupcake cake

     http://www.mycakeschool.com/blog/fish-cupcake-cakea-blog-tutorial/

We also did a fishing game.  I filled up a baby pool with blue balloons to be the "water" and put packs of nemo fruit snacks in the pool.  I had a "fishing pole"  with a magnet on it and the fruit snacks had paper clips on them.  You could also do sweetish fish.
