Hi all,
I posted this on the knot board, but it looks like this side might be a little more active, actually!
I'm hoping you might be able to help me. In July I'm
working with a group of senior high youth to do a disaster relief work camp down there. I don't know exactly where our work sites will be, but I
assume scattered around a bit. One day during the week, we give the
kids a break and a day of recreation.
BUT, neither the
coordinator, or I, have ever been to New Orleans. So, with a limit of
about $10 per person, is there anything that we can organize, or travel
a bit to go do, that would be unique to the area? I think there's
already an evening in the French Quarter planned, so we need something
that would last a bit longer, and help the 'kids' work off some steam,
but also relax & have fun during the day.
Can you help?

Elmwood fitness center has a pool and recreation area, with basketball, and tennis courts. You can call and see what they have to offer. I think you can pay a daily rate and just visit for the day. This is the website: http://www.elmwoodfitness.com/Club/Scripts/Home/home.asp
It is located in Metairie, about 10 mn from the city.
