So after being in CT for 30 yrs, I've been just so sick and tired of it. The weather is either too hot or too cold, it's expensive, and I'm bored with the lack of new stuff to do. H and I have a very small family and am really only close with mine. We have no kids and a dog. My company has a branch out in Richmond, VA so I started looking into it. I've never been good with any kind of change but have managed ti get through it and packing up to leave would be very hard for me, but I'm trying to think of the positives (change of scenery, better weather, close to beaches, NC SC and FL, mini mansions for $200,000, and it's on the Forbes top 20 of cheapest places to live, still close to CT).
Has anyone lived in this area and can you let me know about living there?
TIA!
Re: Does anyone live in Virginia?
Yes, I went to college there and resided in Richmond for 2 years after graduation.
Richmond was and remains one of my favorite U.S. cities.
Richmond is uniquely located because it is roughly two hours from D.C., the beach, and the mountains. It is full of Civil War history. The James River runs right through it so there are places to walk along.
It is neat mixture of Northern transplants and Southern folks.
PM me and I can let you know about the types of neighborhoods...there is quite a variety depending on what you're looking for.
