I'm not going to lie... (vent)

I'm spent.

V & E are almost 4 weeks old, this week my sweet little quiet babies have not slept much, can't get comfortable, don't feel like latching well. Miss Eloise was at the doctors yesterday for vomiting. She is better today, but I was just worried. I got E to pee in a cup, quite the adventure!

Today Vaughn has goop all over his eye. I'm massaging it and pressing a warm wash cloth on his sweet little eye.

I had to set them both down and go shower. It's been a week.

DH will be home and I will get some help. I don't want to call MIL or my Mom, I just want to get my house and babies together without anyone else here.

Iced coffee, Pandora (Michael Buble), and AC are keeping us content.

Vent over.

I don't know how you do it. I'm terrified of the first few weeks with just one. Hang in there. You're doing a great job.

This!!  You are doing a great job Venti.

  • It's cliche and hard to believe, but it does get better. I had several of these wonderful ladies tell me the same thing several weeks ago when I was having similar moments. I can't imagine the difficulty with two. I HATED to ask for help, but for the sake of myself and my child I had to do it and it was a huge blessing. Granted I asked my mother and I would never feel comfortable asking my MIL so it really depends on your relationships with them. My house looks like a disaster area, I just had what felt like 3 bottles worth of formula puked up on me, and the saddest little cries ever heard from my baby but even that is better than those first few weeks. Good luck momma! You're doing great!

  • You're doing a great job!  Hang in there, mama!  B had the eye gunk for a while.  It eventually goes away.  We had to constantly wipe his eye with a damp washcloth though.  It was gross.

  • It sounds like you are doing everything right!  I am sorry it's been a tough few days, but now you'll have DH to help you all weekend.  Hopefully by the time Monday rolls around, it will all be as calm as it can be with twins ;)

  • I tell myself the same thing... 'this will get better and it goes so fast...' FOUR weeks already. These little babies just melt my heart.

Thanks for the support. It's nice to come here and vent. When I vent to anyone IRL they act as if I need 50 people here, dinner and a maid.

...On the second thought, maybe I should vent a little more :P

To me, the first two weeks were bliss. It's just now that I'm in the trenches!

  • You're doing a great job! There's a growth spurt around 4 weeks, so that might be affecting them.

Try putting some breast milk in V's eye. I know it sounds crazy, but that stuff cures everything!

    Atleast that isn't happening? ;)

But in all seriousness, I admire how much you're able to do.  Give yourself some credit... you're doing an enormous job and handling it well.

At this point you are working on survival and it sounds like you are doing a great job. 4 weeks is seriously when the lack of sleep (and showering) really starts to get to you!

Good luck Mama! It is a tough but wonderful time.

I have no advice or words of wisdom, just hugs. I hope things get better and that your H being home gets you some rest.

  • You are doing an amazing job!  It is so tough.  Don't worry about the house.  Take the babies in the bathroom with you while you shower (steam is great).  Eye goop is common.  **hugs**  It does go by so fast, but feels so slow for the first few months b/c of the sleep dep and barely getting anything aside from taking care of babies done.  Look at the small goals you are hitting!  Yay!
Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.
