How much is a car really worth, Web Site
Hi Ladies. We are starting to do some research about purchasing a new car. Is there such a web site that would tell me how much the car is actually worth, not what the sales person will tell me.
Also, I really like the looks of Mazda CX-5. Anyone have it? You like it? Hate it?
TIA
Re: How much is a car really worth, Web Site
The best car website I've ever found for that is kbb.com.
The problem is that no website will be able to take regional issues into place- that is a website based on the US overall- so you may get more or less depending upon the demand in your area. This will give you a price for private sale or selling to a dealer which is always less. Unfortunately there is no way to know what your car is really worth until you sell it- because it's worth what somebody will pay for it. If you sell it privately its more of a hassle, but you often make more back. The dealer has to be able to make money off the car they buy from you, so they will never give you what you would see them selling your car for a week later.
If you have a CarMax in your area- take it in there. I was really happy with them last weekend. We took my kia in to get it appraised and they were within $200 of the kbb website quote. This actually surprised me because my car does have a couple dings in it. I was expecting less. They are also pretty low stress about it. As we were getting our appraisal we looked at several cars, and decided the timing wasn't right for us- we want to save more so we can buy it hopefully in cash. So I may wait another year and then head back to them.
Thanks for the info.
I second Kelley Blue Book, but I wanted to add that they do ask for your zip code and claim, "Kelley Blue Book provides values and other information specific to your location."
