My stepsister announced her pregnancy yesterday, and she's due in November. I am super excited! I do already have a nephew on that side of the family, but he's 13 so this will be the first baby we've had in the family in a LONG time.
My only problem is that hearing about her pregnancy has sent my own desire for a baby through the roof. H and I have been going back and forth about when to start TTC - we feel about as ready as we're going to be, but we're also not sure we want to give up the 'DINK' lifestyle just yet. But it seems like a lot of people in my life are having babies right now, and it's hard not to be tempted to start sooner rather than later. I thought I'd post about this here because I figured you ladies would understand. Anyone else dealing with baby fever?

Re: AWing...going to be an aunt!
YAY baby!!! My nephew and niece are 17 and 21 years old so I feel you on new babies in the family (my sister is 10 years older and started at 16 years old). H's nieces are 18+ too... one is getting married in Sept.
I feel you on the baby fever. I'm pretty sure I'm going to throat punch the next people to tell me "there's never a good time". There probably isn't, but there are bad times, like when you can't afford them. I heard the child care prices and my legs glued shut ($600-1200/ mon here). I keep telling myself in 1 year we will have paid off most debt (3 cc, person loan, court fees, 2 SLs and my jeep) freeing up a ton of $$... but I still have raving baby fever. H does too, and I hate being the "responsible one".
Being an aunt is definitely awesome. I have eight (9 in July) nieces and nephews ranging from infant to 14.
I only have moments of baby fever. I guess it's more like baby hot flashes or something. After holidays with all of my brother's and sisters' kids, I'm so overwhelmed, I think about donating my ovaries to science. Then there are times after a couple margaritas or after seeing a friend's new baby that I feel like I need one right now.
Perfect name! I'm sure I'll be reconsidering after having the stepkids in 2 weeks. They wear .me.OUT! H keeps saying it's different when you have them more etc. I definitely refer our summer visit more than Christmas - we can go DO things, and wear them out instead of the other way around...
Congratulations on the new LO in your family! I love being an aunt. My sister has 2 and H's siblings have more than I even know. The youngest is 5.
H has some serious baby fever, I do not. I would be perfectly content waiting for a few more years. But, in his defense, he will be 38 this month and I just turned 30 in February, so it is partially justified...
Congrats on the new baby! That's so exciting!
We are actually TTC now; just started last month. It's exciting, but I have some medical issues that may make it hard, so I am worried about that. I have a great doctor that isn't going to make us try for several months before we explore other options, so that's a plus. Right now, we are just having fun with the process.
Congrats. New babies are fun!
I have a neice who is 3 that I never see because she is 8 hours away and I talked to her on the phone last night for the first time in ages and god it pulled on my heart strings!!! I want kids snd have for years but we were waiting until we were ready..married..stable etc. Now that we're ready it's just not happening and people are pregnant or having babies all around us!!
SIL had a whoops baby December was a year ago. She definitely wasnt trying..she still lives at home and hid it from her parents until she couldn't anymore. She never had any prenatal care and ended up being out in the hospital when she finally went and the baby was born 14 days later. Its so easy when you don't want it sometimes...
Congrats!! Being an aunt is great. DH's half-sister had a baby last June, and her first birthday is coming up soon. I can't wait! I don't get to see my niece nearly as often as I'd like, but I just adore her.
I do NOT have baby fever, but I do have to say, my niece makes me want a baby big time. But then just yesterday I was on the train with a neverending series of misbehaved children and I was so glad to be childless, ha. All in good time, though.
Congrats on being an aunt : )
I'm an only child, DH has a younger sister but no kids there for awhile...so no nieces/nephews for me yet. My younger cousins have all said that I'll be Aunt Nic to their kids...but that won't be for a pretty long time either.
No baby fever here yet. DH and I need to get our careers in a stable place and we'd like to move to the D.C. area when I finish my Ph.D. Probably no kids for another few years. I'm 28 now, so I don't want to wait forever...but definitely not now.
Congrats on the new Little one!
i am the aunt to 13 nieces and nephews- i know crazy but 3 nephews are on dh's side and i am the youngest of 7 so 10 nieces/nephews on my side! i love them all to pieces! the oldest is 12 and the youngest 1 .
we have been trying since January with no luck- but hopefully that changes soon! i wanna be pregnant! its bad enough i will have to wait 9 months to have the baby but waiting to get pregnant too! ugh i am impaitent ! and it sucks because everyone is having babies around me and all my friends are announcing their 2nd or 3rd pregnancy !!! i saw a super funny e-card about it that totally was me it said " everyone is like oh look at my baby.... and i'm like oh here are 500 pictures of my dog isn't she cute" lol i love my dog everyone is always telling me " can you imagine when you have kids!
oh and at Easter my Sil announced they are due in october !!!! with a "whoops" baby- they have 2 girls already a 8 yr old and a 3 yr old - IT'S A BOY! i am so jealous! i wanna baby!
OK BABY FEVER RANT OVER!
Congrats!! I am getting baby fever bad. We are hopefully buying a hosue soon and we plan to start by the end of the year. I am nervous about the cost of a baby though.
Congrats!! I don't really have baby fever usually. I would love the infant, but I'm not ready for one after infant-hood. We have young kids in my family, but don't see them often. The youngest is 4. I have a niece (5), and 2 nephews (9 & 10). Then i have two cousins (4 & 6).
H just got his first real job and so we want to save up, get a new car and a house, then think babies. i want to start TTC before I'm 30, so we've got 5 years. MIL is impatient, though!!
My husband and I are the oldest and only married kids in our families, so no nieces or nephews yet (and probably never!).
I get 'baby hot flashes' every so often. Especially when I see people I know with babies. We both really want one but know it's not practical now (I've been unemployed since December and will be starting school in Sept.).
Congrats on the good news! I just had my niece (10 months) overnight last night, and there were times when I thought "Man, I can't wait until I have my own baby!" and then there were moments where I thought "I'm so glad I don't have to do this every day right now!" I love my niece, though, and I'm so happy that she appears to love me just as much!
I work at a daycare right now in the infant room, so I care for other peoples babies 5 days a week and that definitely fuels my baby fever at times. I totally feel you on this!
