So...I've been waiting to get a tattoo in memory of my Dad until after the wedding and the past few months have flown!!! I haven't even had time to think about it...I think I've decided on what to get but I want some opinions..I'm thinking of left shoulder as placement..

It really took me a while to figure out what I wanted because I wanted a good representation of him. I plan on getting them to make some of the roses more red because red roses were his favorite. Also the anchor while some may consider it trendy...he loved the ocean and more than that he was my anchor the one constant never changing person in my life always dependable so to me it just fits.
Is it a little overboard? No pun intended! Any suggestions with the text like moving it or anything welcome!

Re: Opinions..
I like the second drawing better.
I feel like the flowers are a bit overwhelming. I don't think it's because there are too many of them, but that the anchor doesn't have color so it doesn't pop enough. I think with a good amount of shading to the anchor, that the flowers will no long take over the tattoo.
I like the first one better, but both of them look nice. I also think "Daddy" should be bigger if you go with the second one.
As for the flowers, what if you were to have them going along the rope, instead of opposite? Almost like the rope is a vine.
Talk to your artist. They should be able to give you some good ideas and input. Some things may look good on paper, but not on skin and vice versa.
Personally, I would get rid of the "Daddy" altogether. I think if you did the anchor and the roses with the dates underneath them, it would be more pleasing to the eye.
But that's coming from me, who has no tattoos.
