am i overreacting?

i think sil ( DH 's brothers wife ) is getting outta control! They have 3 Boys and  she is upset she didnt have a girl! so she encourages the middle one ( who is 3 yrs old ) to do all kinds of girl stuff at first it was cute- oh he likes dress up ! ( i have no problem with that) BUT she had him wear a Cinderella dress up gown to our rehearsal dinner AND WEDDING! this poor kid will probably be so embarrassed by our wedding pictures when he grows up! If he isn't no big deal if thats what he still likes when he is older i have no problem with that! for his bday she told everyone he wants my little ponies, princess castles, dolls and princesses stuff! she got him a tiara and a magic wand too! and had rapunzel come to the party to read stories!!! SERIOUSLY! i dont even think he even likes this stuff! today she painted his fingernails and toenails!

i think she is getting out of control and encouraging him to do things he doesn't want to because she wanted a girl!If you had a boy would you let him wear a princess dress up gown to his uncles wedding???

  • that's definitely weird. it's one thing if he likes those things, but for the mom to be pushing them on her little boy is not right.

and no, I would not let my son wear a Cinderella gown ANYWHERE in public.

  • I agree with a PP...it's one thing if he likes "girl things" and wants to wear that, but it's not ok for her to force that on him. Poor kid, he's going to look back at pictures of his childhood and be totally embarrassed!
