Trade timeshare?

Hi, does anyone know of a site where I can trade my timeshare week at one of our destinations with someone else at their place? We belong to Westgate and have any week of the year at any of the locations so long as space is available. My FIL had a stroke and we are not ready to put him on an airplane yet and all the destinations are pretty far from us. We want to try a family vacation in Texas, somewhere handicap friendly. I am sure we'll just pay for it. But I thought it would be nice to be able to trade with someone so that all the money we've already spent this year on maintenance, etc is not wasted.  I googled looking for a trading classifieds site and just found these services where you pay an annual fee to. I don't want to deal with any more annual fees.  I just want to trade a week in Vegas, Branson, Arizona, Orlando, Miami, Daytona Beach, Gatlinburg, Salt Lake City, etc for something in Texas. Any ideas of a site like that?

Re: Trade timeshare?

  • Check out redweek.com and tug2.net. I think you might have to be members, which may cost something, but these are the two best timeshare exchange sites out there. I sold and bought timeshares from Redweek and the advice of the group on Tug is invaluable.

  • Thanks, I'll have a look. I put an ad on local craigslist too.

  • i know with ours we can let the company at the hotel rent our week for our profit. can you do that? or bank it to exchange at a later date?

  • That is a good point. I need to check with them and see what to do. We just bought this right before the stroke so I am learning it all.  They have this new program called Westgate Cruise and Travel for exchanges,  which really just confuses and annoys me. It is pretty awesome if you want to trade for a cruise, but with family's inner ear issues, a cruise is not going to happen. Surely I can deposit or rent out though. I just joined Tug. Only $15 for the year and can post up to $75 worth of ads. Can't beat that. Well, free would be better.
