New House Supply Checklist
Hi there! My husband and I just bought our first house and I am scouring the internet trying to find a good supplies checklist for your first house.. we have the basics from our apartment living but I just want a nice list of everything from Lawn Mower to AC filters.. stuff I never had to buy or worry about until now! Three weeks from closing and trying to budget for all that new gear! Anyone know of a good place to find a list like that?
Thanks!
Re: New House Supply Checklist
Buy a decent ladder and a decent step ladder both with latches or locks to prevent them from opening up while you're carrying them.
Furnace filters (you need to see what furnace you have, first).
Hose...oh and buy one that isn't stiff - the stiff ones are very, very heavy and diffilcut to manage.
Goo B Gone...that solution that removes goo and stickers.
Here's a basic list of items that I compiled when moving into our new house. I hope this is helpful!
Batteries - Be sure to check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors to find out what they use for backups.
Cleaning Supplies - Specific to the types of finishes that you have in the house, like granite cleaner, porcelain cleaner, hardwood floor polish, carpet spot cleaner, linoleum cleaner, window cleaner, wood furniture polish, toilet and shower cleaner, etc.
Tools - Basic tool kit with screwdrivers, tape measure, level, flashlights, hammer, allen wrenches, open end wrenches, adjustable pliers, needle-nose pliers, wire cutters, hex screw bits, drill with bits up to 1/2" in size, hack saw with metal and wood blades, box cutters, rope, twine, rubber mallet, step ladder, extension ladder, tarps, paint brushes, paint trays, drop-cloths, paint rollers, painters tape, paint thinner/remover.
Hardware - Different size nails and screws for repairs and hanging items on walls, felt furniture feet to protect your floors.
Yard Supplies - Rakes, dirt shovels, lawn edger, snow shovels, lawn mower, weed-whacker, yard waste bags, handheld garden rake and shovel, small garden clippers, large garden shears, hoses, push broom.
Other - Garbage cans, recycling bins (from your town or city public works department), car wash soap and sponges, snow scrapers, snow salt/de-icer, plungers, air conditioning filters, fire extinguishers.
