Just had to AW. Dd's pre k graduation is tonight. Dd has gone to the same daycare (which is where pre k is) since she was 12 weeks old. She has a group of friends that have all been there since they were infants. The other moms and I keep talking about how we are going to cry tonight! I'm sure the slideshow is going to take us back to those little group of babies together. It's so amazing this group has stayed together and gets along so well. But is going to make the transition to kindergarten hard since there will be some going to different schools.
Anybody else have the pre k graduations going on soon? I know we have a big group going off to kindergarten in the fall. How is the kindergarten stuff going? We just had a few things at her elementary school. And we have a few orientations at the after school care place coming up this month. Eek! And dd turned 5 a couple weeks ago. Crazy!
Re: My kid is graduating!
we had ours about 2 weeks ago! It was a really cute little program, and I held it together until they started up a slideshow featuring a Sarah McLachlan song. It was all downhill from there.
we registered Jake for kindergarten back in April, and then as far as I know, we don't do anything else until August. There is a parents orientation one night the week before school starts, then the kids go 2 days before school starts for their own orientation.
Jake - 1.15.08
Liam - 5.17.11
I would have been a crying idiot!
Congratulations to all of your little graduates!
Ill report back on whether I cry! But dd is out only kid and she has been going to this daycare since day 1 and I know she loves her friends there. It's an end of an era for the group!
I didn't cry either Beth. We had ours before memorial weekend, it was cute. EJ was awarded the "mighty math award". She has been at the school since she was 12 weeks old... but there may be 2 or 3 teachers who have been there the whole time she has been. Three different directors in that time too. So there was no tear jerking slide show. Just a cute little ceremony (and she went back the following Tuesday, cause she still needs daycare)
The follow up report: it was cute! They sang 2 songs, had a slideshow and a video. The video was asking each kid what they want to be when they grow up. Ballerina for dd if you were curious, ha! They gave flowers to each mom and got their "diplomas". Then cake and punch. We had an after party at the playground with dd's close friends and that was fun.
I teared up at the start of the slideshow, but kept it together. They didn't bring out the super young baby pictures or that would have gotten me. They had a great pic of dd with her friends with their arms around each other and I teared up again.
but back to daycare today so no big change yet. I am pretty sure I will cry on her last day of daycare in the fall though. I love our center. Her current teacher has been the same for 2 years and she is amazing!! She is a teacher just waiting for a teaching position and she absolutely does a fantastic job and adores the kids. She was so excited and emotional last night. Anyways we will miss her a ton!
I definitely cried at graduation! They put tissues on our seats with a little poem about our kids going off to kindergarten and I immediately started crying. It doesn't help that the slideshow is pretty much intended to make us cry! And she's only been in PS the past two years, I can't imagine if she had been there for all day care for the past almost 6 years!
