UPMC Board resolution today will not sign contract with Highmark. Probably not a shock but still sucks IMO.

Re: UPMC vs Highmark....
wait so no more upmc dr? the onlyone we use is the Pedi, but they are super close do rounds at the hospital where I deliver and I just made Adam's 5 yr apt and told them about the baby. =(
I love that I can go to the childrens express or in a real emergency to Childrens and all his info is accessible to eveyone at each location.
How long til I have to switch I wonder... and Will that impact Childrens??? Not fair to not be able to get your child the best care because your insurance wouldn't be accepted =/

if you have Highmark insurance, as of May/June 2014 they will not accept it at a UPMC facility. That will not affect Childrens or Western Psych. If you have any other insurance vs UPMC/Highmark you will probably still have your choice of physicians

Ugh, this is so frustrating. We have anthem blue cross blue shield but our claims go through locally through highmark. So we don't have highmark insurance but we are some how connected. I don't know how to find out if we will be affected...
we have highmark. Makes me sad to think that I will have to switch the kids Dr. Adams because he has seen him for 5 yrs and that now we won't be able to go to the Childrens express cares unless they group them with Childrens??? That would be nice, if anything Childrens hospital affiliated was included with "Childrens" vs just a UPMC Dr....
At least I will have almost a year to swich the baby.... Hopefully it is a healthy child and that won't matter much...so it wont effect my initial hospital and visits next month.
Do we think there is any chance they can "fix" it before 2014? maybe??

I don't think you will have a problem at any Children's Facility (wexford etc..) regardless of your healthcare. No chance of a fix as far as I know - that is why they are letting everyone know now to prepare everyone.
