Acceptable to you or not acceptable to you?

A neighbor cutting the grass starting at 7:15 on a Saturday morning.

Re: Acceptable to you or not acceptable to you?

  • completely acceptable- it's freaking hot down here already at 715 am, so that would be me trying to avoid the 100+ degree heat index forecasted later in the day.

  • It's only going to reach 80 where I am and it woke me up. I work a LOT and wanted to sleep.
  • It's so loud and almost right under my window. I think he should have waited til 8:30. I am so tired my eyes are burning.
  • Most people in our neighborhood go by an unwritten rule to not work on loud projects before 9.  The "rule" does not apply to snowblowing.

  • Not acceptable. If he were concerned about heat he could wait until early evening? I personally think before 9 am on a weekend is rude. Hey nothing wrong with being an early bird and waking up early on the weekends, but can't he busy himself with quieter tasks until others wake?
  • not acceptable.  heck no!  luckily our neighbors mow in the evenings

  • My town has a bylaw about not starting construction/lawn work/noisy stuff until at least 8am. Perfectly acceptable to call the cops. We actually did that once...Each town is different though so you could do some investigating :)

As much as I'd hate it, acceptable. MY father was the one cutting grass at 5am when I was growing up, it was awful but he didnt want to be out there in the sweltering heat.

Our city (houston) now has 8am starting time, $1K fine if violated.

  • This falls into the "Acceptable but ANNOYING as hell" category for me.  I work crazy shifts, often 24 hours at a time and it was drive me bananas when my neighbor would mow at 8 am right as I am trying to fall asleep.  Not annoying enough for me to confront them about it or complain. But just annoying enough to make me bitter and irritable.  Lol

on the other hand they were an elderly couple so I can totally see why they needed to get started early.

What was most annoying about it was that they would mow and Weedeat around our house. Literally up against the brick on our home, just outside the bedroom window.  Our house was well maintained, mowed and trimmed weekly.  It's not like we were messy.  But they did it anyway.   And that WAS unacceptable.  So we got into a big little about it.  We were very territorial about our 1/3 acre lot in the city. Haha.  But they were the best neighbors ever otherwise. Loved them!

  • If it were once in awhile fine. We've had so much rain these past few weeks that people can litterally only mow during certain parts of the day ranging from the am into the pm - like 9pm.

  • Unfortunately, acceptable, but I always wait until 8am.  Rather get it done early than do it during the middle of the heat.
  • Acceptable but annoying as all get out unless as others have said there are laws about starting this early.

With a toddler, we are usually up around this time on weekends anyways so it doesn't bother us as much now.

  • We live in NC and it's freaking hot during the summer.  Acceptable.

  • I wasn't super mad but prefer him to start at 8 or a bit after 8. My neighbors are actually wonderful people so I would never complain about an occasional inconvenience. I was just curious what everyone thought.
  • I think it depends on where you live. If it is HOT 100 plus degrees you have to start early. If it is 80 and that is the high, come on now respect your neighbors.
  • We're in FL. It gets hot by the time 7:15 am rolls around. Everyone on our either cuts their grass early in the morning or in the evening after work. DH and I are morning people, so we don't mind when our neighbor is RIGHT by our window cutting the grass, but I do see how some people would be annoyed by it.

  • Totally acceptable.  It's June and freakin' hot outside.
