We received a great set of cream/off white colored bed sheets for our wedding. And we've been using them ever since then (in April.) At first I thought it was just the light in our bedroom. But then I realized that it isn't. My husband is discoloring our brand new sheets! I notice when I make the bed that his side (of the fitted sheet) seems almost yellowed. We both shower before going to bed (always) and he doesn't use any sort of creams that would cause the sheets to change color. He does tend to get hot at night so we keep it pretty cold in our bedroom. And he always sleeps without a shirt. My side looks just as beautiful as the day we got them. Any suggestions to remedy the problem? Am I the only one with this problem?
Re: His side of the bed
It's his sweat. My DH has this issue too.
The biology is that sweat also contains tiny amounts of urea, which is also found in urine and is colored yellow. Don't worry - it's not like there's pee in your bed! As he sweats, toxins from his body are also being released (girls do it too, just in typically smaller amounts), and you're seeing that residue.
But we remedy it with DH wearing a t-shirt to bed. Other than a t-shirt or darker colored sheets, I haven't come up with another solution.
My husband also has this problem!
He refuses to wear a t-shirt to bed since he says he gets too hot, so I've just resorted to buying white sheets (so I can bleach them), making sure we have a mattress cover to prevent that from getting discolored as well. Also, I recently bought new pillows and got some hypoallergenic zippered pillow covers to keep those from turning yellow too.
Not sure if these actually work, but I ran across this link on Pinterest the other day and you might want to give these a shot (they're tips on how to remove sweat stains from clothes). http://www.diyncrafts.com/1512/fashion/diy-fix-for-removing-sweat-stains-from-clothing
All of this.
Ew. Men are gross.
My husband does this too. And in his sleep he has these horrible farts that linger for days. Even with the windows open.
No suggestions, just... ew.
