Former Kridgen, Bishop, Lebovitz, Yester, Alvarado patients, please come in

Have you visited the office since the switch?  Are you happy with the practice?  I need to schedule my annual exam and am trying to decide if I should just switch.  I know Dr. JaJa always comes highly recommended.  (open to other suggestions)

I had so many complications with M, I was really hoping to have the same doctors when we are blessed with another child.

Re: Former Kridgen, Bishop, Lebovitz, Yester, Alvarado patients, please come in

  • I switched over to their new practice.  I saw Dr. Yester at the Mars office In February.  I was really pleased with the staff and the office, although it's a further drive.  I know not everybody has the option to switch but I just wanted to put that out there.

  • I stayed and I went through the last 4 months of my pregnancy with them.  I mostly saw Stern and Dr. Katari toward the end.  I really liked Dr. Katari, so I would highly recommend scheduling with her if possible if you stay. She also did my rounds while I was in Magee  and is just very thorough and genuine.  She went beyond her OB/GYN role when discussing my health.

I cannot, for the life of me, think of the other female OB/GYN who joined the practice (ETA: Stacey, maybe?). I only saw her once, but she was a little crazy in a diva kind of way.  Long nails... long hair... a good bit of makeup.  Just not your typical OB/GYN.  I would recommend her for a 16-year-old who is going to the OB/GYN for the first time.  She would make a 16-year-old very comfortable.

  • I stayed through my pregnancy and scheduled my c-section with Dr. Kaminski. He was fantastic!!!

I didn't love that I didn't know any of the doctors visiting me in the hospital other than Dr. Kaminski. They were all very nice and kind, but I preferred it when I knew the docs seeing me, like the old group did.

I have UPMC insurance, so I don't have the opportunity to change to their new practice, though I wish I could TBH.

I really like Dr. Katari. I also really liked Dr. Moniz but only saw her once. Meg is describing Dr. Carlitz. She was nice, but I agree with her description above.

I doubt I'll have another child, but if I do, I might consider switching to a practice where the doctors you see during your pregnancy are the ones visiting you in the hospital. Although, I'll have to weigh that with wanting Dr. Kaminski to do the c-section.

For now, I will just continue to schedule with Dr. Katari and/or Dr. Moniz for check-ups since Kaminski doesn't come to the South Hills office.

Thank you for your wealth of information.  We have UPMC insurance too so I can't switch to the Seasons practice.  I really loved those doctors and that I had seen each one of the before M was born.  Do they not do that anymore- have you see all the drs in the practice before baby's arrival?  Who were the drs that you saw after delivery?

They do encourage you to see all the doctors in the practice but, when I asked at one appointment, they explained that they partner with other OBs in the hospital (I think all are from the University arm? Teaching OBs?) and it might not be possible to meet all the doctors that might care for me.

In my case, other than Dr. Kaminski visiting me before discharge, the other two doctors I saw for PP care were doctors that don't come to the private practice at all, so I had never met them. TBH-- it made me feel kind of like I was someone who hadn't had any pre-natal care and they were just sending a random doctor to check on me.

They were both very nice, but I liked it better when, after my first baby, I had Dr. Bishop and Dr. Alvarado come see me and the baby. They knew a little bit more about me beyond what was on the medical chart, so it was more personal and comforting.
