Re: Book Club Monday
I'm 40% done with Darkness Before Dawn. It's the sequel to There is No Light in Darkness. I loved book one. The beginning to book two was a bit slow. Book one ends in a major cliffy, and #2 took a while to pick up the pieces. The last few chapters have picked up a lot, so I'm hoping it keeps that up. So far I'd recommend it.
I just started two books. I got 24 pages into one last night before falling asleep and started the audio book in the car OMW to work this morning. So, I can't say yet whether I would recommend them. The audio book is The Night Strangers by Chris Bohjalian (I've been into him lately) and I started The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling.
Last week I finished the audio book of Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I didn't love it but I'm glad I read it. The longer I think on it, the more I think I like it. It was intense. I also finished Inferno by Dan Brown. I was disappointed in it. It was good, but not the caliber of some of his others.
I didn't read as much as usual this past week, but I've loaded up my Kindle and I'm ready to go! haha. Last week I read Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout (Lux #3). You guys should seriously check out this series! I found it on the goodreads listopia for bad boys.
Right now I'm reading Heartless (Pretty Little Liars #7) by Sara Shepard. I've gotten addicted to this series!! They're quick reads, too. I just started this one yesterday afternoon and I'm halfway done. I'll probably end up finishing it today! Not sure what's up next!
I'm reading unbound - jd ward, #5 black dagger brotherhood. Really good so far but No time to read with step kids here.
Still listening to forever - Maggie steifvater. Bleh. Again no audio books with the kids.
I have been reading lots of kids books... They countsright?
Have fun with the kidlets Mana!
Only if you list them here and give detailed reviews
hehe
I agree!
Yay!
Ryan enjoys Ruby in her own time. Its about a duck that is late doing everything: hatching, eating, swimming... But when it comes to flying she beats her siblings!
We also read Sky Fire. Where little bear thinks a rainbow is a sky fire! Him and little bird try to put it out, and find the pot of gold, er well they find a tree of golden honey!
Lilly and I are working through 6 stories of Berenstain bears books. So far we read one about getting a bike, one about a spooky tree and one about a missing bone from the museum. We have been making flashcards to help her with the stories!
I think tonight's bedtime story is the not so witchy witch. Which is about a girl that's not very good at being a witch, even being too pretty.
awww, I love kids books!
How are they doing with the reading? I remember you saying they were struggling with mom and she didn't want you guys to Skype to help them...did you come up with any ideas to help encourage them once they do go back?
I love that you gave a description of the books your reading with the step-kids!!!!!
And that you are trying to help them with their reading!!!!
i am currently reading " and the moutains echoed" by Khaled Hosseini for the book club i am in- so far its a great book- i have not read either of his other books ( the kite runner and 1000 splendid suns) i read a review on this book that said the others are better but i think this one is good so the others must be amazing!
The others really are amazing! I'm excited to read And the Mountains Echoed, I have it on reserve at the library now.
It's been really trying with the reading. She's really good at flash cards, but when she reads she struggles. I've made flashcards from the words she struggles with in the books, and that seems to help. When she reads out loud, she makes up words unless I'm here pointing to each word, or the whole story to go with the pictures... so I don't think anything we do for her to do at home will help without someone helping. Which won't happen.
