Maternity Clothes

So I am not quite ready yet, but I am certainly not going to buy regular clothes now either.

What stores did you find had the best collection with the best prices?

I also (probably) need a couple of bathing suits.  Typically, I am a bikini-wearer, but what did you all feel comfortable in.  I looked at some on ASOS and the one pieces do not look appealing to me.  Are maternity bikinis even sold (depite what I see on TMZ everyday!)?

Re: Maternity Clothes

  • I have very limited maternity selection where I live, so when I needed maternity clothes I went to Motherhood. I didn't think their prices were outrageous but they were having a decent sale the weekend I went. I also bought a non-maternity tankini swim suit. I had to go up a size in the top because of my new bewbies but it works.

I think you could just wear a regular bikini if you wanted to and were comfortable being bare bump in public. :D
  • in-store, Motherhood and Macy's had the best selection for me.  But a lot of brands have maternity lines online-- Gap, Old Navy, Target etc  they just rarely have full selection instore.

I also sometimes found stuff at Ross or in consignment stores-- I got a sweet pair of maternity jeans for 8$ in a consignment store-- my favorite materninty clothes purchase.

I would think you could wear a regular bikini as long as there was enough support for your boobs (and if you are comfortable with that, and be careful you don't sunburn that bump-- ouch!)

I preferred a tankini style, and ended up getting mine at Macy's (the Motherhood brand). But I ALMOST got one at Pea in the Pod-- they had nice ones, but in the end I couldn't justify the price for something I was going to wear for 3 months.

  • I got most of mine at Target so far. I am particular about maternity clothes (I hate that most prints look like they are for elderly women, like your age automatically increases because you are expecting). I also got a few things at Old Navy and Motherhood.

I saw a huge selection at Buy Buy Baby, if you have one in your area. I haven't gotten anything from there yet but the prices were comparable to Target and they had a few more things to choose from.

No advice on the swim suit, I haven't gotten one yet.

    Ditto the bolded!

Some of Target's tankinis (non-maternity) might work if you don't want a bare bump. I bought one that is somewhat flowy in the midsection on me--and this can be hard to do since my waist usually needs a bigger size than my boobs do. I don't know if something like that would last you all summer though.

Correction: it was flowy in the midsection. It's not now, but it's still totally acceptable for me to wear.

  • The majority of my clothes have come from Old Navy and Gap,with a few things from Target. I got a tankini from Old Navy which I'll be wearing this weekend, but it fits great, and I'm sure it'll be comfortable. I'm normally a bikini wearer, but I'm a bit self conscious of showing off the bare bump and if I did, I burn easily and would rather not expose that much skin right now to potentially get crispy.

  • I shopped ON, Motherhood, Kohls, and H&M for maternity clothes. I wore a bikini while pregnant. I was about 25 weeks the last time I wore a bikini (mainly bc it got cold).

  • I got a few things from Target, Old Navy, and Kohls. I probably like Target the best. I just wish there was more of an in-store selection.

I bought a tankini online from Target. So far I am happy with it. However, I only wore it to a pool once and never went in the water.

  • I wore a regular bikini at 24 weeks.  IDGAF.  After that, I upgraded to a maternity tankini.  If I felt like pulling the tank part up, I could, but I felt comfortable walking around in it because I could cover up.

I had no idea H&M carried maternity. Does the store near you have a section now? If so, I need to go there!

OMG, some of my absolute favorite maternity shirts were from H&M.  SO comfortable and they looked fabulous on.
