Since we seem to be going silent, I figured I would try to liven it up a bit....
What is your faqvorite NM winter activity?
Who has teh best luminarias/farolitos?
Red, green or Christmas?
Feel free to add on.....
Re: Randomness.....
I've never really done any winter specific activities in NM.... but I'm really hoping to try snow snowing this winter!
I clearly need to get out more, but we always drive around a neighborhood in White Rock, they do a really good job. There is one house that uses ice bowls instead of paper bags, I really like those.
Green! I'm still a wimp and can't handle anything to spicy, so I usually get it on the side.
Tell me about it! The board died!
Winter activity - used to be snowboarding till I had an accident that scarred me...hope to get over that someday and get back to it. For now, I'll just go with running since I just did that in what felt like 3* weather.
Luminarias - Love Old Town ABQ, but haven't seen them in a while. Need to get down there.
Green for sure! I used to be a chicken about chile forever....I just couldn't handle the spiciness and I didn't like the taste. Overnight, I suddenly couldn't live without it...the hotter, the better. I fear the day we decide to move away from here...I'll be having my mom ship me cases of green chile and Dion's Greek dressing.

I knew I could count on Claire & Val. Now i should answer my own questions.....
I have a healthy respect for gravity - it ALWAYS wins. So now skiing or snow boarding here. I joke maybe for my 40th birthday in a few years i'll attempt those. I stick to snow shoeing. My favorite is to go up the Sandia Tram on full moon nights and snow shoe. So quiet and peaceful.
I love Old Town too. I also really like Deck teh Halls at UNM - it's the only time they do luminarias on campus. The campus is magical!
I've always wanted to go up to Santa Fe for the Canyon Road farolitas. I''m hoping next year they will run a Road Runner train just for that. And the plastic bowls dound cool, Claire.
I like green. Moslty beacuse it has more flavor. I like flavor over burning off my tatse buds. Although a good red to go with carne adovada....
I'll bite...
1. I love to go tubing. Unfortunately I haven't been since I was in college, but I'm planning on taking my nephew this winter.
2. My parents neighborhood in Abq. ;-) The whole street lines their property with luminarios and it looks beautiful. Actually, Old town has an awesome display and I enjoy walking around the plaza on Christmas Eve. When I moved to Portales, I was very disappointed that nobody puts up luminarios.
3. Definitely green. Me and DH have already gone through 1.5 sacks since Sep. We eat green chile with everything.
::butting in:: we are headed to NM on Sat to ski.
I can not WAIT to try the green. A *few* places in TX serve it but I'd say that's one in about every ten.
What ski resort are you guy's heading to?
Taos.
Dad got a house in Arroyo Seco for the week. 4 more days now
