Can anyone comment as to how much it cost them to have their home appraised? Any recommendations? TIA!
Re: appraiser cost
We paid $350. But I don't know that I would recommend our appraiser as it has been 3 weeks and we don't have the appraisal back yet.
We used the website appraiserusa.com. It was recommend to us when the appraiser who we were referred to couldn't get us an appraisal back for at least 4 weeks.
Interesting to hear that they are taking long! The buyer's appraiser came out last Saturday and I'm waiting to hear back the results - good thing we have it in the contract that we get the results back by the 25th!
On that note, I would NOT recommend the guy - he was, literally, 80 yrs old with two bad knees and thought that taking exterior pics of our house from his car was appropriate. I just know he was with West Penn financial.
My three sons!
The first place I called asked me what bank I was working with... when I said I was shopping around, he said that the bank has to orer the appraisal and consumers are no longer allowed to order their own appriaser anymore. That the law had changed. We're looking to potentially get a home equity loan and I'm just tyring to guage up front costs.
Did you gals order your own appraisal, or is that just who the bank sent?
Our situation is different, we are doing a FSBO with no bank involved. So we did one because our attorney told us to!
