baby clothes help

We had our shower last weekend. Now I'm starting to organize...so overwhelming!

We have a lot of adorable outfits...most of which are newborn or 0-3 month. Should I return some for 3-6 month or store credit? I'm afraid a NB will grow out of the clothes super quick...but I'm afraid to not return the clothes and get enough money back since we don't have receipts.

Also, how many onsies/footie PJs should we have?

Sorry for the questions:) Thanks!

  • How many newborn and 0 - 3 months did you get? I think you will need some.

If you can exchange them for the same outfit in a different size, then you won't have to worry about store credit.

DS was in NB for about 3 weeks. I think he was in 0-3 for about the same amount of time.  It will depend on how big LO is at birth. DS was 6.5 pounds.

You probably won't need too many footed sleepers if you will be swaddling. I was worried about him being too hot, so we usually did a onesie under his halo swaddle.

You could wash a few items in each size and leave the tags on the others. Once LO is here and you see how they are growing you can return/exchange. DS blew through sizes it seemed, so I haven't bought far ahead because I would have been way out of season.  Now that he has slowed down, I will buy a little ahead but not much.

    Good advice!

G is still in some NB stuff at 1 month.  He was 8 lbs 4 oz at birth - not sure where he's at now.  I would keep some NB stuff and like Kaine said, leave tags on some of it in case you have too much and want to do some returns.  You'll probably want most of your 0-3 stuff unless you got like a million things.

I have around 6 sets of PJs for G between the footies and the footless sleepers, but he's been in onesies lately since it's so hot.  You may not need as many if you are swaddling or using sleep sacks.

  • L lived in sleepers the first couple weeks. So much easier than trying to maneuver a onesie over her head. I'd get some light cotton sleepers if you have a/c. We had about 5-6 sleepers for each size range and that was plenty. We do a load of her clothes once a week.

Keep the tags on most of the NB stuff, and just wait and see. I didn't think we'd use any NB clothes, but L was scrawny. Most NBs will wear NB size at least for a week or two, unless they're really on the bigger size.
