Dark spots after doing laundry
Have any of you had this problem? We've had this new washer for about a month or 2. I let the the drum fill up with water and suds, and then I put in the laundry like the lid instructions tell me to do. All of a sudden I'm noticing our shirts having dark spots on them. I thought I accidentally washed them with DH's biking shorts or something that could have had grease on it, but this isn't the case.
I just did a load, and a couple of new shirts are now ruined with these damn dark spots. What is it, and what am I doing wrong?
Re: Dark spots after doing laundry
Is it possible that you may be washing the load with a tube of chapstick? That has happened to me before when I forgot to take it out of my pants pocket. Also, it's possible that the clothing items are getting pinched between the drum and the basin. If you put in a really small load of laundry, does this happen? Try a few different sized loads - sometimes if you have too much laundry in at one time, items can get stuck.
Also, I'm assuming that since you are letting the drum fill first that it's a top loader, not a front loader - take an old white rag and when the machine is empty, rub the rag along the inside of the drum and along the rim of the top - see if you can find the spots that are making the marks.

Nothing in the pockets, but I'll try doing smaller loads and see if I can see any spots. I'll also rub a rag inside it, thanks!
Years ago, this happened to me. The pipes coming into the washer hook up were rusted and occasionally, there would be small rust spots on items. I would just have to treat them with Shout and rewash. It only happened a few times, and the first time, I didn't realize til I dried the loads. I was lucky that Shout took the stains out. These were brown, so I don't know if it's the same problem.
I wonder if there's any way there is any kind of oil or grease leaking from the installation?
Regardless, I doubt you're doing anything wrong. I would call the company who installed it and where you bought the unit and ask them. If you get no resolution, I would contact the manufacturer of the unit and see if this happens at all and if they have any suggestions.
Good luck, I know how frustrating it is!

Ditto to this. Your drum could be dirty. I've heard of some people running a cycle of diluted vinegar through the machine to get theirs clean.
This was my thought ,too. I all together stopped using liquid fabric softer on our clothes because it started leaving grease spots. I only use dry sheets now.
