DH has been struggling to contact anyone from HSBC regarding a loan he has for his truck. We are trying to find out how much he has left on it so we can pay it off and get rid of it. We have been trying for a few years but now that the truck is pretty beat, we have been calling even more to find out what we are supposed to do. In the past they have told him they will have a loan officer call him, but nothing ever happens. Today when he called they told him they have no record of his loan. Wtf!? They once again said someone would be in touch with him to work it out and that was that.
A friend of mine works for HSBC mortgage and she basically, laughed and said that's just how things go. But you would think they would want their money! He hasn't received any statements from them, or letters or anything. What do we do! We want this truck gone and they are acting like it doesn't exist!
Re: HSBC won't call us. Wtf?!
before we met, about five years ago, he lost his job and got behind on the payments. Then we got together, and he got working again and that's when he reached out to them to ask what he should do. Since then, they have never given us an answer. He doesn't have any of the original loan paper work because he is the WORST with bills. He is better since he has been with me but I still handle all the bills because he just tends to set things aside and forget them. We really need to get rid of this thing though and can't if the title still has a lien on it. I think the next step will be to try to talk to a human being at a branch... Thanks for that.
HSBC was bought by Capital One, if I remember correctly. I think I received some correspondence about that on one of my credit cards. Perhaps he should contact them (Capital One) and see if his account can be found there.
Hope that helps! I used to be terrible with my bills, also. It's taken a lot of growing up and time to get my stuff together!
