Home insurance bill - resolved!
Okay...so we closed on our house about a week and a half ago. One of the first pieces of mail I received is a bill from our insurance company saying we owe them $640! The cost of insurance is supposed to be rolled into our monthly mortgage payment. Does anyone know why the insurance company would be sending me a separate bill, especially for this much money?!
I do plan to call tomorrow to clear this up, but was hoping for a quick explanation.

Re: Home insurance bill - resolved!
Perhaps it is just an FYI as to your premium. Or could it be the Declaration page that lists your coverage? It would include the premium even though it is being paid via escrow.
I wouldn't sweat it. You couldn't have closed with an unpaid home insurance premium. Call and verify but you should be fine.
Ok, so this is my first post in this little corner of the world, but being an insurance agent I just wanted to give you some options as to what it might be.
It could be a copy of your declarations page that shows you a breakdown of what your coverages are and what your yearly premium. If you are certain that it is a bill you definitely need to contact your agent or insurance company and make sure that your homeowners policy shows that it is an escrow account. When you go in to closing that is normally taken care of between the mortgage company and the insurance agent, but sometimes things happen and the agent doesn't get it changed in their system. You want to be sure that it does show as escrowed on the insurance side of things because when it comes time for renewal they will send the bill to you rather than the title company and that results in an unpaid bill.
Never hurts to double and triple check

Turns out the insurance company sent the bill to me as well as the mortgage company...mortgage company had already paid the bill in full. Would have been nice if they'd put this information anywhere on my copy!
Thanks again for your help!
