Moving across country, best way?
We're moving half way across the country at the end of July (new Job woohoo!). Any tips/tricks on getting the best deal? From doing some brief research it looks like ABF Freight and/or PODS might be the most affordable...anyone have experience with this?
We are a family of 4 (moving 3BR home) plus two small pets.
Re: Moving across country, best way?
Congrats on the new job!
We used ABF for our move from Seattle to Atlanta, and they came in significantly cheaper than any place else we checked (including places where H and I got work discounts). We filled up H's car with stuff (he was moving first), and then I filled up my car with some stuff and our 2 pets, and the rest went into the truck. The only complaint I have with them was their customer service. We had 2 or 3 days to pack up the truck and the first truck they sent us had a leak in the ceiling (which I didn't notice until the end of day 1 when it started raining). I had to take all the stuff out of the truck myself wait for a new truck the next afternoon and reload it all by myself--not even an apology or anything from the company. Our stuff managed to make it all the way across the country with no problem though, so that's what matters in the end.
Good luck!
