Randoms!

Because I have vacation-itis and need to not work until my vacation starts on Tuesday and I take 12 days off! (including weekends)

Re: Randoms!

  • The next week at work will be glorious! My boss is leaving tonight for vacation and we are off next Thursday and Friday. That is just awesome.
  • I am so happy Brody stayed in his own bed last night!  Woo, go Brody!

I get my hair cut tonight and I'm getting a few highlights.  I haven't been home in the evening most of this week - Tuesday (body blast class), last night (out with friends) and then I get my haircut tonight.  I feel kind of bad to leave DH and the kids 3 nights in a row.

  • I literally can come up with nothing.  this is very sad.  I could gripe about the rain.  That was not fun this morning.

I think SYTYCD is going to be awesome this season.

It's still almost 2 months away, but I'm already nervous & stressed about logistics of kindergarten drop off/pickup, and how Jake will adjust to everything.  He's so nervous about it already :(

  • i have a gross rash on my arm and legs.

    My pool is full!

I realized my pool pump is not wired....cause they moved it and had to disconnect it. so I cannot start the filter. sigh. Time to learn how to wire a pool pump.  though I am not sure the old wire will reach.

  • here's another vent from me today: I'm binge watching Scandal to get caught up, finished up season 1 on netflix only to discover they don't have season 2 yet!  NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

AW!  I will tell you that leading up to it and the first few days are stressful.  My stomach hurt the first day I had to send him on the bus and then he got a different bus to his afterschool program.  (the actual first day I got to ride the bus and spend the day in school with him).   The minute I thought the bus should have reached his afterschool, I called to make sure he made it there.  Within a month, he was an old pro and knew exactly when to go where (he brought the bus home a couple days a week).  They are babies to us, but the schools know that they are capable of being big kids - and the school is right. You'll be amazed at the big boy that you will have at the end of kindergarten!

awww, thanks, Amber.  That brought a tear to my eye, and did make me feel better!!  Deep down, I know he's going to be ok...but I know he can be slow to warm up to new situations and is not good with transitions of any sort (he gets all thrown off and upset if they even move his seat at the lunch table at preschool!)  The after care thing is one less thing to have to worry about, it takes place in his school...so at least I don't have to worry about him making it anywhere!

  • DD is going to Vacation Bible School this week.  She begged me to go, but every morning is a struggle!  She has fun while she's there but drop off is killing me. She clings to me; I have to physically remove her from my arm and shove her into the classroom. But she comes home talking about it like it was the best day of her life.

This isn't giving me much hope for the fall when is in preschool 3 full days instead of 2 half days.  Do they ever outgrow that separation anxiety?

Im stressed too. Dd is not excited about it at all. She doesn't like change either and is going to desperately miss her friends.

We did a little story hour at her school a couple weeks ago and they separated kids from parents and she was so upset!

Tonight we have an open house at her after school program so I'm hoping she gets a little excitement seeing it. Although apparently a lot of the after school kindergarten kids are starting the program in the summer and we aren't. Now I'm worried she will feel left out since the kids will already know each other. I can't wait till the initial stress is over!

Emmy, if it makes you feel better I was really nervous this year about Jackson starting PPS, especially since his school goes from PreK3 all the way to 8th grade. They do before/after care right at his school, which is nice, but the care goes all the way from ages 3-11. I was so worried walking him in, especially because he screamed every single day at daycare dropoff even though he absolutely loved his teacher. First day of school, he walked right in and said "bye mom, see you later," and ran to go play ball with a 4th or 5th grader he'd never met before. He didn't even look back. I never in a million years expected that to happen. Hopefully Jake has a similar transition in the fall.

  • On the subject of Kindergarten...

I am SO FREAKING ANNOYED with our school already! Our kids start in about a month and a half -- on 8/20 -- and we still have not been told if they will be in the morning or afternoon program! WTH! I can't even begin to plan for before/afterschool care till they give us this info. It's BS. And when I finally broke down and called last week, I was told the letters were going out last Thurs. Yet they still haven't arrived. I can literally see the school from my house, so clearly they did not go out as planned.
