Bras

I feel really silly for asking this question!

It is becoming that time when my bras are officially too tight.  Did you buy maternity/nursing bras (if so from where) or did you just up your size?  I am already a 34D regularly so I once I pass DD, I really won't be able to walk into a regular store and pick up a new bra.

Thanks and Happy Monday (aka Wednesday!)

Re: Bras

  • I'm currently a DD and I have a terrible time finding bras - they're either uncomfortable or they're hideous. My current ones are also getting too tight also, I'm thinking I'm going to go to Motherhood or maybe try ordering off line.

FFC - I'm dreading how big they're going to get.

  • I bought a few cheap ones from Target that were a larger size, and also bought a set of Genie Bras, also from Target, for sleeping in since my tatas were super sensitive and sore the first few months. I've actually taken to wearing the Genie bras lately, and I must say, they are pretty freaking comfortable. I'm still holding out for nursing bras for when I actually need them, since I'm not sure what size I'll be in at that point.

  • I highly recommend the Bravado Body Silk Seamless Nursing Bras. They come in S, M, L, and XL. They were comfortable at the end of my pregnancy and continued to fit once my milk came in. Evantually I needed to size down because my supply regulated and my ribs went back, but by that time I could buy underwire bras for day time use. I still use the Bravado ones for sleep.

I could hold you for a million years

  • Also if your regular bras fit but the band is too tight you can simply buy an extender from target or even from amazon. Those were great almost until the end of my pregnancy when the underwire started digging into my belly.

I've been thinking about a genie bra, I'm heading to Target in a little bit.

I definitely wouldn't buy nursing bras until after your milk comes in and your supply regulates if you're BFing.  You will continue to change size most likely.  With my last I went from a 36DD to a 38G while nursing.  Right after I had her, I just mostly wore nursing tanks around until bras were comfortable again.  During pregnancy I just bought a couple cheaper ones from Target or Macy's that I didn't feel bad about only getting a few months use out of before a new one was needed.  After birth, I recommend going to Nordstrom to get sized if you can.  They size properly and have a variety of sizes to try.  I bought one from there, but it was expensive so then I just bought the same size/brand through Amazon for about half the price.

  • I was big before so I already needed to get new bras. I had to order from Lane Bryant I was a DD before and I had to order G. They are pricy but I love them!

this is my issue.  I started as a DD before getting pg, and I'm now busting out of the few DDD's I had.  The best bet I've found is Nordstrom.  They have a good selection and they'll fit you accurately too.
