Parents of toddlers with reflux... ?? for you

DD has had a very hoarse sounding voice for the past 3 weeks.  Most days she almost doesn't have a voice by the end of the day.  We went to the pedi last week and he said there is swelling around her vocal chords.  He wanted to let it go for a few more weeks to see it was associated with a virus she had in early June.

He said if it's not better in 2 weeks to come back (which will be next week).  He said she might have silent reflux and she would have to go to a specialist and possibly have a scope done.

So, what tests are done to see if it is reflux?  Does anyone have a toddler with reflux that didn't have it as a baby?  I always thought that was more of a baby thing

  • so this may not be related- but I figured I would mention it anyway. EJ had complained to me a lot when she laid down that her mouth was hot.  Eventually I figured it was perhaps some sort of reflux and I gave her some pepto now and then. I mentioned it to her allergist because her nose had been running a lot and she was complaining of an upset belly. He gave us a nasal spray prescription and it fixed everything. Allergies were causing post nasal drip, upsetting her belly and causing reflux. it was a nice simple fix.

I thought it was allergies because mine are pretty bad right now, but the pedi said her nose and ears were perfect.  He doesn't think it's allergy related.
