I saw in the M&M2B post that you tested positive for GBS. I'm sorry that threw a wrench in your plans :(

Did anyone tell you that the antibiotics can sting when they go in? Mine burned but I wanted to let you know that what helped a ton was putting a super hot washcloth on the IV site. They actually taped mine to my hand when I started pushing because it kept falling off!

I also couldn't get rid of the GBS after I had her so I went on antibiotics 3 separate times but I was told that is unusual and the antibiotics during labor usually take care of it.

I hope that you are still able to labor in a way you want to and able to have a med free (minus the antibiotics) delivery!

Thanks for the tips.  This may sound stupid, but how did you know you still had it afterwards?  Were you experiencing any type of symptoms because right now I'd have no idea except for the standard test they do or do they test you again afterwards?

  • I couldn't tell I had it before I had her but afterwards I had a funky discharge and extreme itching and some burning. Of course I am not sure what was the recovery from 3rd degree starburst tearing and what was the infection. I could tell the antibiotics didn't get rid of it completley because the discharge didn't go away so that was the main symptom. I was very anemic afterwards even with PNVs with iron and an additional iron supplement and I guess when you are anemic your body has trouble fighting off infection.

Thanks.  Good to know if something like that happens that it could be caused by the GBS.
