Hey Fellow Nesties!!! My husband and I are currently living in a brand new house that we love.... but the only problem is it is really weighing us down financially... we cant even afford to go on a date night hahahha

our house needs a yard and stuff put in still and we don't know when we will be able to afford that
Soooo we are currently discussing whether or not we should just sell the house and move to a completely new place.... mind you we are 20 years old, no kids, and are looking for an adventure together. We are debating whether or not we should take a leap of faith and move 5 hours away from all families and get a college education....
What would you guys dooo........ loose a cute house that you got a killer deal on and keep working dead beat jobs or move to an apartment and down size a lot but get a college education??

Re: NEEDING ADVICE
Yes, you should go to college; yes, you should jettison the house; yes, you should go have an adventure; yes, you should spread your wings and move away from family for a while.
There are a million houses in the world. There will always be cute ones in the next town for the next chapter of your life when you're ready again. There will always be good deals again.
Letting a house you can't afford dictate your life when you're 20 would turn out to be one of your biggest life regrets, I imagine. We've owned 5 houses and we often talk about how much better off we'd be financially if we hadnt had them. We'd have $X instead of $Y in the bank, we'd have this or that toy, we'd have taken all those trips... Houses are never worth sacrificing the good stuff in life for IMO.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
It is not a killer deal if you cannot afford it. (or can you afford it if you adjust your lifestyle --cut back on eating out, and other non essential spending- adjusting your budget?)
I recommend getting a clearer picture of your finances (what is going in and going out) as well as your specific goals of an education. Not all college degrees lead to well paying jobs, but many do.
PS - you can have a lot of fun for free, entertainment does not have to cost,
I would suggest reading 2 books
Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey and Smart Couples FInish Rich by David Bach.
I would look for new jobs or something that would bring in a little bit more cash. I went to college and my monthly loan payment is a house payment each month. Sometimes, a college degree is not worth it because you cannot find a job to pay off the loans and a house payment. I would say life is an adventure. There are a lot of things you can do that do not cost anything. We spent our first anniversary doing activities that did not cost anything. We had a blast. A lot of our date nights have been bonfires or watching a movie at the house.
I would look over the budget and find out where you can cut cost. With the house we just bought, we found used appliances or free ones. I would not worry about doing anything to the yard for a while. If you want some color, you can check out Lowes or HD for their clearence plants. I have found a bunch of flowers for .25 or .50 that have done really well. What do you need in the house?
