Re: Book Club Monday

  • This weekend I finished Eleanor and Park and liked it. I also finished listening to The Night Strangers by Chris Bohjalian. I was a bit disappointed in the ending, but enjoyed the story. It was very different than what I normally read.

I just started Outlander which if I finish it (before it is due back to the library in two weeks, not sure that will happen), will be #38 for the year. Goodreads says I'm 12 books ahead of schedule of my goal of 50. Maybe I'll try to go for 75!

  • I finished Glazed Murder by Jessica Beck and thought that it was so-so. I usually rate 4 and 5 stars on almost everything I read, and I gave this three. The sad thing is that even though I didn't like it, I considered reading the second one in the series to see what happened. haha. It took me forever to read the book, though, and it was a short one! I think it's because I didn't really care for it.

Next I read Fallen by Lauren Kate. I liked it for the most part! I wanted it to go a little deeper, but eh. I am still confused on some things, but I'm hoping they'll get cleared up in the second book.

I'm now reading Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver. Love it so far!! I've read 67/110 books for the year. That's 61%, I'm 11 books ahead of schedule. If I knew I wasn't going to be stressed between first year of teaching and buying a house, I'd up my number, but I anticipate my reading coming to a standstill in August!

I count my audiobooks towards my goals. I'm interested to hear if others do.

  • Still listening to Eleanor and Parks, and reading DwD.  It was a busy weekend!

I'm still 7 books ahead of schedule, which I will need after DWD (1100 pages).

I do, but I usually see what the ratio is.  I like it to be at least 50/50 or more books than audio.  But I tend to read really BIG books, like 800+pages, so that brings my book count down.

  • I finished Requiem by Lauren Oliver which I have mixed feelings over.  I started The Night Circus.  I am only a few pages in so I don't really have an opinion yet.

I am also listening to A Clash of Kings which will probably take forever since it is so long.

I do consider listening to a book the same as reading a book.  That's just me though.

I can't wait to see what you think about The Night Circus!! The timeline is very jumpy, but I loved it.
