We are getting back into house renovations and the next big item on the list is our closets. We are lucky enough to have a his and hers closet in our master so I get to deck mine out all girly and pretty! I'm pretty excited!
We are on a budget, so unfortunately, shelling out a couple grand for a custom closet just isn't going to happen. Plus, our house is not that high end and it would be a bad investment anyway.
So, we are looking at maybe doing a track system. The Home Depot has all the parts and I think we could pull it off for a few hundred bucks. I just don't know if I really like the way the track system looks as opposed to built ins. We remodeled our whole house ourselves, so we have the tools and knowledge to do built ins, but I think it may end up being a longer, more involved project, as well as more expensive.
Here's a link for the track style system:

And for built ins:
Which one do you like better?
Re: Help me design my closet :)
I like the look of the built-ins, but the track system looks nice also. The track system will definitely be a faster install. There are so many options not for track systems that you can still get all of the features you would want with a built-in.
I would probably go with a track system for now. That way you're not risking pricing your house out of the area, since you said your house isn't fancy anyway.
I am super jealous that you have his and hers closets. In our house hunt, we've only seen 1 house with a master suite and that didn't even have 2 closets.
Enjoy your decorating!!
I love the look of the built-ins but in the grand scheme of things, are they worth it. I mean it is a closet and all. I am thinking that with the track system, if you don't like the way it is configured, you can reconfigure it to better suit you. Also it will give you an idea on how you want to do your built-ins in the future.
PS - His and hers walk-in...you lucky girl!!
I like the look of the built ins a lot better too, but I do like that I can reconfigure the track system if needed/wanted. Also, it might be nice to give that option to any future owners. I have a TON of shoes and I'd love to have a full wall of nothing but shoe storage, but that might not work for the next person.
So, if you were moving into a house, would you rather have a built in system or a system that you could configure to meet your needs/wants?
The first link doesn't work for me...but the built ins are GORGEOUS!
I can totally understand not wanting to invest that much in a closet though.
