More food/drink Party Rules

If you bring a dish in your own serving tray, 9x13 pan, etc., how do you get it back the same night if there is still a lot of the dish left in your tray?

Re: More food/drink Party Rules

  • Like ESF said in the earlier post, I think in that type of situation, taking your food home is fine.  You could also offer it to the host and ask if s/he has a container to store it in. I think either is fine. I often try to send food home with people anyway because we do not need gobs of party food lying around for just 2 of us.

  • I usually say something like, "I'll get my dish back from you later."  At least 80% of the time, the host tells me to just go ahead and take it with me.

I've never had to leave a party like this REALLY early though. Usually by the time I leave, everyone has at least had one round at the buffet.

  • I think it's actually rude to leave your dishes at someone else's house. It just makes more work for the host. I hate having other people's dishes; it just becomes a pain to clean, store, and return them.
